This thread serves the purpose of clearing any doubts you may have about the staff team in general, to make apps more accessible to everyone in these times of change. Any further questions can be replied to this thread, and if needed edited on the opening post.

What are the requisites to be staff?

Initially, being a member of this site is enough. We used to have some kind of resentment against users who had been banned in the past, but I think everyone deserves a second chance. And if at all possible, provide proof of your work related to the position you’re applying for so your chances of being selected can increase.

For how long am I expected to serve as site staff/hold a staff role?

Many people mistakenly believe a staff position is meant to be hold forever until you either fall out of activity or decide to step down. While this is not entirely wrong, there’s a minimum requirement of three months in office (reasons explained below) and no theoretical maximum. And don’t feel bad for asking to step down, this is voluntary work and you can quit doing it whenever you run out of time to keep it up.

How am I supposed to do the (insert role here) job?

Most of the roles are self-explaining or have very basic rules, others might be more complicated. As the manager I’m here to “train” you if the role so requires it, you can also freely ask questions in the apps thread or even once you’re in office if you still have doubts about any specific subject.

What is the usual workload in hours for staff roles?

There’s no real answer I can provide here, it all depends on what you focus your work on and how much time you put into it. Each role has its own unique time consumption, some can take just a few hours a month whereas others can take dozens. Don’t worry, you won’t be forced to dedicate an excessive number of hours to the site, you’re free to find your own pace.

Can I do actions that belong to a role that is not mine?

If said actions can be performed by a non-staff member (writing reviews, for example), then yes, always trying to talk with the staff in charge of said action and of course staying active by doing the actions of your own role. Doing staff-only actions that you’re not entitled to do (adding games without being console/steam manager, for example) will result in immediate demotion.

The manager has a role! Isn’t he supposed to be just overseeing us?

Technically yes, but since I started as a site staff member I’ve grown fond of the content writer role and so I’ll stay with it since I’m still active on that front. Any other role I may hold will be just temporary until someone else takes it, or because I’m testing them on myself before putting them up for grabs.

What can grant me expulsion from the team?

Stepping on another staff’s work, like I said before, and other ban-worthy actions like plagiarizing content or incorrect behavior in the boards. Additionally, missing quota without reason or falling out of activity altogether will also mean getting expelled.

If kicked or demoted by voluntary decision, how and when can I apply back?

Once you fall from the staff team, you’ll serve a three month cooldown period. This is to ensure that somebody else can have a shot at your role, and to make sure people don’t apply for staff for a very short period. Cases of expulsion due to ban-worthy actions may incur in a longer cooldown period.

What quota do staff have?

Finally, they key question we all have in mind when thinking of staff. Instead of numbers, staff will go through quarterly reports showing their activity for the past three months. This will allow staff to relax a bit more and not feel so overburnt. As you can see, I expect every staff member to undergo at least one such report, otherwise measuring if they were good on their job turns a lot harder.

Can I preserve my staff roles after ascending in the ranks?

Of course you can. You will have other quotas as you ascend, so always consider if you still have the time and the drive to keep doing your staff work or decide to focus on the higher-level duties.

In what ways can we contact the staff manager for questions, doubts or role changes?

Every staff member will have their own thread in a restricted forum as the most direct way of contact between me and them (and other higher-ups, should it be needed). You can also PM me or find me in Vizzed’s discord server, though my preferred method and the quickest of all three is via the staff thread.
