Edit. Removed my layout so video can actually be seen well..

Anyone else hyped about a new pokemon snap game?
It costs $60 and I believe it is stated to have over 200 pokemon.

Personally I think I will buy it but I do wish there would have been at least 400 to make it extremely varied.
Main reason I want a lot of pokemon to show is because I think it would be cool if they put several mini events in the game that are kinda tricky to activate to reveal legendary pokemon.

Either way over 200 pokemon there is still more than 3x the amount from the original game.

The one good thing kinda at least is that it isn't made by gamefreak so it has a different company making it so I am definitely expecting some more extra details that gamefreak probably wouldn't put.

Are any of you going to buy it? Wait a bit and buy it used? Any expectation?

Personally, I was always thinking that $60 would have been way too much for this kind of game, and now seeing that there might only be like 220 Pokemon or so makes me think that it just won't be a good value content wise. Gameplay wise, I know it's going to be awesome, but I'll probably wait until after it comes out to see a couple YouTube reviews and gameplay videos and then I'll probably pick up a used copy a couple months after it comes out.

Also almost every Pokemon spinoff is made by a company other than GameFreak. I personally would have preferred if the original developer made this game because they also did Pokemon Stadium, the 1st 2 Smash games, and nearly all the Kirby games, so they had lots of experience with Pokemon and Nintendo.

Quite a treat to see a Pokemon game on the Switch that doesn't look like a up scaled 3ds game with a new lighting engine (tho Let's go does look better than SWSH so there's that) I'm honestly shocked this is real people have spent so much time asking for this that I gave up hope for it personally, I don't have a ton of history with the game but my mom still would go on and on about how much fun she had playing pokemon snap if I asked her right now so it's cool to see a sequel to a game so many people love.

Pokemon Snap for the N64 was really one of the only games in its genre. Nintendo created its own genre and it's cool to see them finally make a sequel to it after 20+ years.

My wife actually loves the original game and it's one of the very few games I actually enjoy watching someone play so every 5 or so years, she'll play through the game and I'll usually sit by her and watch most of it (we both like Pokemon but there's not enough coop Pokemon games, what the heck Nintendo?). As you can imagine, we're both pretty excited for this one. She's also a photographer and does photography as freelance work so the game appeals to her that much more.

Beyond just taking pictures of the Pokemon, Pokemon Snap for the N64 was somehow able to bring its world to life, making you feel part of the world, making you feel like you want to be part of the world. You're basically watching Pokemon just doing things in their natural habitats while taking pictures so it brings the world of Pokemon to life in a very different way. Seeing this new one with better graphics and probably having more to it, I'm excited dive into its world (or at least watch my wife dive into its world lol).

Finally it has a date! I've been waiting for this moment for quite some time, so I'll watch the trailer right away when I've caught up with everything else I've missed out on these days.

While it sounds nice to have +200 Pokemon in such an immersive environment, the Switch has capabilities to hold much more than that. There are GBA hacks with all 386 Pokemon released up to that date, so they better give a good explanation as to why there's a relatively scarce number of them.

I don't know if I'll get it on release or wait a bit. Kinda depends on when the Switch Pro will release and when exactly will I acquire it (because, let's face it, waiting for a price drop is nearly impossible), but I'm sure I'll be able to get it by summer. And remains to be seen when I'll be able to play it, as the list of pending games to play (and acquire) keeps growing bigger.

There's a list of all the Pokemon that have been confirmed so far. It's very small so far though. I really hope that a full list of Pokemon that will be in the game can be released before the game comes out, instead of waiting for the game to release and just seeing what's there.
