How was the year of 2020 for you? It could be in general it could be on the site or just gaming wise. For me 2020 in terms of irl stuff was not the best very up and down one month I would be doing really well and the next crashing down with a depression over something. Since I'm trying to stay on the more positive side with this thread I'll focus on the fact that while I did get kicked out of my school last year for quote on quote not logging in for two weeks when I did I was able to turn that around and get my GED and doing pretty well on the tests which is honestly still a surprise to me.

In terms of gaming I would say generally positive but not the best year but some of my highlights gaming wise would be Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, P4G on Steam, P5R, and the competitions we had on the minecraft server.

I will say 2020 was very successful for me on the site as I was able to complete most of my major goals as I started the year winning TDV and then followed it up by getting 2nd in the summer TDV, and speaking of the start of the year I got Global about a week into 2020 which was crazy to me at the time as someone who never expected to be a Local and then I ended the year by getting Admin, I also finally got 1000 posts which I always wanted. So all in all pretty successful year on the site.

How was the year for you guys?

2020 was pretty crap for me.

I lost my job the day after my birthday in March and haven't been able to find a job all year.

This meant that I was earning about half of what I usually do. After a while my wife and I decided that we needed to sell our house or risk losing it. Since it's been about 9 months of earning half of what I usually was on unemployment benefits I'm pretty sure we would have gone through the savings we had on hand and would have been struggling to keep paying for our house and would likely have been starting to think about selling it this year.

Since things haven't really improved at all with lockdowns and unemployment in Canada I would be surprised if I was able to find a job in the next 6-9 months and so likely we would be forced to sell/lose the house.

Other than not working it hasn't been all bad. We've got to spend a lot more time together as a family. More time spent going on walks and watching movies and playing games together. We already homeschooled our kids so there was no change when school's shut down. No big transition for us. The only problem is we have no extra things to do which has been tough on the kids. They were used to going somewhere 5-6 times a week so going nowhere for weeks a time has been tough. My wife and I have dealt with the lack of variation better because we are both home-bodies and don't mind staying home most of the time. The girls not so much. They try and facetime/zoom with their friends but we don't want them sitting on screens trying to talk to their friends all day when there are other things to do.

Thankfully I don't know anyone who has been killed by Covid in the last year. I know plenty of people who have gotten it and said it sucked to have but no deaths. I know people who have died from other things but not Covid so I guess I have that to be positive about.

Still, for how bad 2020 was I see 2021 being worse. I don't see how the world bounces back from this easily. The damage done outside the virus is going to be awful long term.

Well, I never caught COVID, and I was one of a few lucky people who got to work from home, it actually felt good to have every day be Pajama day, on Monday I will go back to work with a mostly quiet school (grades 7-12 get an extra two weeks off)

Manitoba was able to handle things very well (heck for the first two weeks in July there were no cases AT ALL) then things took a bit of a dive. By the time fall came around we had more than 100 cases per day, things have gotten a little bit better though recently, but it's been awhile since we've had a day without a COVID death or less than 100 new cases

During lockdown I was able to convince my parents to make a couple of recipes I wanted to try just to keep me from going crazy and bolting off to get fast food

Mine wasn't as bad as it could have been. The schedule at work got cut for around a month before going back to normal and all of my classes were done at home. The only big thing is that lots of deadlines for things like housing, loans, and other stuff were either extended or terminated, which helped a lot.

Plus from April to June I put hours into games and shows per day, which not only helped with keeping me occupied when I was home but also introduced me to dozens of new things.

2020 has been a horrible year from me. I had to quit a job that meant a lot to me at that time because of how toxic the work environment had gotten. I wasn't able to get decent work after that and have spent the entire year unemployed and living in an abusive situation at home with my family. I need out of this mess.

I've ranted about how bad things have been in this neighborhood and town I live in long enough. These people need to go, and I just want to be by myself. With Covid being the way it is, it's going to be hard for me to achieve what I'm trying to achieve. I need people that are going to work with me, not work against me.

I can't say how I really feel about 2020. I'd get banned from the site if I used the type of language I feel like using. In the future, I feel like I just need to be alone. I've raged on and on about 2020, and I'm sick of it. So much went wrong this year, it would take up at least 10 pages of cuss words and rants to describe the ignorance I've put up with this year with the people I live around and work around.

SonicOlmstead : 2020 was a year that was good and bad for me my mom was in the hospital last summer and came back home at the beginning of october just before a lot of the hospitals and nursing homes where I live were having outbreaks of the virus but luckily she made it home just before the outbreaks happened then at the end of the same month a friend of mine who I have known for many years died from the virus he had parkinson,s and spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital in fact he just came home 5 days before he died but never had the virus until he caught it while he was in the hospital where I live in maitoba we have had over 600 people that have died so far from covid but now that they have a vaccine the number of cases is gradually starting to go down I,m not lucky enough to be able to work from home so I continue to go to work but the good part is at least no one in my family or myself have caught covid I,m hoping that this year they will be able to put an end to this virus so that we can all live normal lives again and that things will start to go better for my mother

On site, I can say it's been really good. I've been unable to write as much as I had hoped to due to real life and such, but being picked as the new staff manager with the rank of admin was insane. Other than that, the only other highlights would be being voted best staff member and member of the year in the awards, which was absolutely unexpected.

Off site, it wasn't as good as I had thought it could be, but I can't complain. My dubbing course got cut out the worst way possible, and the dubbing industry hasn't really picked up just yet. A few trips we had planned had to be canceled out, as well as family celebrations, and the welcoming of new family members (one of which we lost in the making, to make things worse). I also had a brief stay at a hospital, but luckily my medication has remained stable and without major changes.

There were good things, too. I managed a local trip with my girlfriend for some nice summer holidays, and my relationship with her has progressed a lot. I also had some good memories with friends and family, more than the previous 5+ years, so in that aspect it's been the best year by far as of late.

In the gaming aspect, Persona 5 Royal was a massive hit and we've enjoyed every second of it's extremely long gameplay, despite not being done yet with it. I also started a project in Assetto Corsa which I hope on continuing later on, and also started over a couple Wii games after I acquired a new console. I won't say I've regained interest in gaming at large, but I've regained the drive of having my interest piqued by certain games, genres or franchises.

And well, luckily enough nobody close to me caught covid, not even I despite being at risk, so I hope 2021 can continue this trend.

2020 was extremely rough for me. I didn't see people much, and I was not that productive for most of my quarantine. However, it got a little better once I was back at college in person during Fall semester. I got to focus better and meet plenty of new people

Thankfully it was rather uneventful, while my state had a mask mandate, I didn't suffer much of anything else, still had my job, family still had theirs. I was probably the few lucky one thankfully.

I honestly have no thoughts about 2020, outside of the fact that the year was yet another defining example of being an onlooker watching the world burn by choices beyond my control. I have spent a very long time being a homebody, even before the pandemic, because I have nowhere to go and nothing to do with myself, but being forced to stay at home definitely solidified that notion further, if I wasn't as hard as concrete by then already. I'd feel sad and pathetic about it if I wasn't so numb and used to it by now. Frankly, it was this pandemic that was the icing on the cake for me to finally decide that I just gotta do SOMETHING. That year I started college, and still going as of now.

Well I killed a few people, had some ladies in my car, paid their services, stolen some money and shot some cops. Bought an apartment and ran over an old lady because she was smack talking to me so yeah

Other than playing gtaV online nothing much for 2020 with covid and all. Interesting experience and free money so

SonicOlmstead : 2020 was bittersweet for me. I did get a position as an intern for the IT department of a factory, but COVID-19 caused me to get laid off. However, I did get a gaming laptop that year, which I had been trying for years to get a system that I could actually run games on (not low-spec hardware) I also started going to a technical college that year. All in all, the virus was the only sucky thing of 2020. Otherwise, it was not bad at all!

Overall, I'd it was kind of just decent for me. Although I did get stuck at my beach house for 3 months.

2020 was a mixed year for me. I will start off with the positives. The first due a La Nina the weather was very active in my area. I was busy forecasting the weather on my weather page. There were lots of storms to track. There were also lots of tropical storms and hurricanes to track.

Now for the negatives. The first five months of 2020 was brutal for my area not due to Covid. We had violent weather. In January we had a Derecho come through. The storms produced winds over 75 mph and 1 tornado. In February we received more than 3 times our normal amount of rainfall. Basically, my area flooded. In March my area was hit with several hailstorms.

The worst day weather wise was Easter. My area was hit hard during the Eastern Tornado Outbreak. A total of 10 tornadoes touched down in my area. Several people got killed.

Another negative was health-wise again not related to Covid. My Autoimmune condition acted up with a vengeance. I was in and out of the doctors office a lot. I will be honest a lot of days I did not feel good at all.

Honestly? 2020 was very busy with everyone locked down there were a lot of people coming to me for support and help. I mostly sat in my room spending my days trying to help people out but it inspired me to try to restart my community building starting with discord. Since then I've started doing discord streams I've revamped my tumblr started using twitter more to be networked and that process has led me back here, missing the old internet and the connection of forums as well as needing a place for retro games so i can stream them. I entered a relationship in 2020 and have learned more about myself and actual learned what asexual and aromantic spectrum are so I have more ways to better explain my function. Some more of my creations were made aware of this world so I'm still dealing with that. Mostly I've gotten more politically spoken and refined my process to act on things in general.
