Not everyone will be lucky and find a surplus of Tarantulas in New Horizons which can sell for 8,000 Bells each. Not everyone will get lucky with Turnips and Turnup a profit. The only other ways to make money in this game are with hard work but here, I am going to talk about a few of the easiest ways to double your money early on in the game by crafting items.

The three main items that I will be talking about, which are very common on your island are Weeds, Windflowers, and Wood.

Depending on the day, I was usually selling Weeds for 7 to 10 Bells each. That’s not bad considering how many weeds there are. The entire map probably has close to 1,000 Weeds to be pulled and if you have the ladder and vaulting pole, you can probably pull every last one of them in under 20 minutes and sell them all for close to 10,000 Bells.

But you shouldn’t sell them as is. It’s a good, easy source of income, but what you should really do is craft them into Leaf Umbrella’s because these fetch way more than the sum of its parts. I haven’t been able to check the range of pay for Umbrellas and how the price changes day to day, but the day that I sold all of mine, they sold for 240 Bells each.

It only costs 15 Weeds to craft one Umbrella and if the weeds sell for 10 Bells each, 15 would net you just 150 Bells if you sold them individually, so 240 Bells for an Umbrella is a 90 Bell profit right there. On a day where weeds are cheaper, Umbrellas could net an easy 2 to 3 times profit.

It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to dig up enough weeds to craft 10 Umbrellas and those can be flipped for an easy 2,000+ Bells with minimal effort. If you dig up every last weed on your island, instead of getting around 10,000 Bells for the weeds, you could earn 16,000 or more by crafting them into Umbrella’s. The best part Is you don’t need to use any tools or resources to gather weeds.

Another item that works in a similar fashion are the windflowers. There are White, Red, and Orange ones, and since there are way fewer Windflowers than weeds, the values are much higher. When I sold Windflowers individually, I earned around 32 Bells each. That’s not bad, but we can do better.

You can use three windflowers of each color to craft a Windflower Wreath. If you were to sell all nine Windflowers individually, you would make 288 Bells. But if you craft those nine into one Wreath, that can sell for a whopping 576 Bells. That’s a profit of 288 Bells each, exactly twice as much as if you were to sell them individually.

Like weeds, you don’t need to use any tools or resources to get Windflowers, you just go around and dig them up. There’s also a fairly decent amount of them to be had and they grow pretty quickly. My starter island had 60 Windflowers scattered throughout the map, 20 of each color. After crafting all of them, I was able to get six Wreaths and I had two Windflowers of each color left to put in storage.

Those six Wreaths turned into 3,456 Bells when sold. The Windflowers all grew back after two days, so I was able to keep repeating the process over and over.

Another way to maximize your profits early on with crafting is with wood objects. Wood is harder to get for a number of reasons though. First of all, you need an axe in order to chop away at trees, so you’re limited to how much wood you can get before you need to craft or buy a new axe, which is going to cost you.

Secondly, you can’t just use any axe, you should probably just use a flimsy one. If you use a regular full power one, the tree will fall after a few hits and you won’t be able to get anymore wood from there for a while. Not to mention, each tree only gives three pieces of wood and it can be either wood, hardwood, or softwood, so you won’t get as much of regular wood, which is the one that you need for this.

If you sell one piece of wood, you’re going to get around 48 Bells. But once you start hacking up tons of trees and saving the wood, you can start crafting Wooden Beds, which is where the real month is. You can use 18 pieces of Wood to craft a Wooden Bed and these sell for 1,728 Bells each. That’s 96 Bells each, twice as much as you would get individually. Beds are also a good item to craft for the purpose of selling because they take up less space. You need 18 pieces of Wood to make one, the others needed 9-15 of their respective item, meaning the same amount of wood will take up less space after crafted.

If you hit every tree on your island the maximum three times, you should be able to get enough wood to craft three or four Beds, which can turn into more than 5,000 Bells per day. Not to mention you will also end up with a surplus of Softwood and Hardwood.
