I'm a big fanatic of nuzlocke challenges. I mean if I'm playing Pokemon it's frankly all I do. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to the series so if I want a challenge handicapping myself is often the only option.

Now I do different styles of nuzlockes, from the ones where you link certain pokemon together and the ones where you ban healing items, and eveyr single time there is some Pokemon that just pulls through at the last moment and saves the day. The amount of Pokemon that have survived on 1 HP is astonshing and every time I play I can basically picture this huge story. I also like to give my pokemon personalities when I do this that I usually base off their nature. It's like a neat little side activity when playing a pokemon game.

Last time I nuzlocked a game I had a Lopunny that survived Cynthia's garchomp's dragon rush at like 2 HP and ice punched it for the KO. I was pretty happy about that one haha. Another time I had a Grumpig that survived mirror coat from Wallace's milotic at like 5 HP which was clutch as well. I thought for sure I died in that moment when that happened.

Now I wonder if anyone else here has went through the same thing? Anyone here tried any nuzlockes ?

Furret : I would have to say I'm the exact opposite of you; I don't think I could ever do a nuzlocke, mostly because of my OCD. When I play a Pokemon game, I have to get 1 of everything. And then, I also try to have different types in my 6 man team, while keeping them all around the same level.

I've done two different regular nuzlockes before and the most recent one I did was randomized.

All the nuzlockes I've done with the exception of one(which was for Pokemon X) were all of older games though. Not sure how you'd do a Nuzlocke for the Switch games since the random factor is completely removed (not sure if there's a mixture of overworld encounters and traditional encounters in Sword and Shield though).

Nonetheless, nuzlockes are pretty fun, and I'm thankful to have been able to completely finish all the ones I've done without losing everything. I'd like to possibly try doing a wonderlocke in the future for the 3DS games though. I feel like that would be really exciting.

thing1 : I used to be like that as well until I got bored of playing the same way every day for like years on end. Nuzlocking was weird at first but now it's so liberating to be forced to ignore any OCDish needs when it comes to playing Pokemon.

Now I don't actually have OCD, or at least have yet to be diagnosed, so I don't know what it'd be like for someone who actually has it. I just don't know how else to call it. I could see why it might be more difficult to break away from those habits.

SacredShadow : Ooh I love randomized nuzlockes. Especially when you randomize the trainers and the first gym leader has a Mewtwo, always a fun time. I'm also questioning how the wild area would work with a nuzlocke but I'm sure the community will find some way to make it work. I think in one of the trailers they encountered something in the grass so they might just ban all overworld encounters.

I'm in the same boat as well, I've never lost a nuzlocke before. Well, of a main Pokemon game that is. There's been a handful of romhacks and fangames that have made me white out, but those are usually designed to be tough. If you ever get to play Pokemon Reborn, play on hard difficulty and see how far you can make it. I managed to get 10 badges in (the game has 18) before losing to a rival character who caught me off guard.

Nuzlockes are a big waste of time and patience. The whole concept of it is just pointless and it's just there to do if you're bored of the games on their own and you want to preserve their lifespan. I will never try a Nuzlocke and I think those who do them are crazy and are clearly bored of Pokémon games. Honestly, instead of doing a Nuzlocke, go play Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. It's just as time and patience-consuming, but instead you'll be playing a game that demands that kind of behavior rather than one that does not.

Rayman85 : I'd have to politely disagree.

In fact I'd argue it's the opposite. I love the Pokemon franchise but it's a fact that the games in particular are designed in a way that 6 year olds can beat them no problem. To be frank they're just way too easy, especially the newer ones. Still, I love the games for what they are. I love the areas you can explore, the music, everything. I just choose to make the game harder to beat because I like challenging myself. Many games have difficulty settings ranging from easy to hard. Pokemon doesn't, so we have to improvise to make it challenging and more rewarding to beat. That includes but is not limited to a nuzlocke or one of its variants.

I just don't see the correlation between a nuzlocke and finding the game boring. The game doesn't change wether I nuzlocke it or not. If I found it that boring surely I'd just move along to a different franchise?

I have tried it before around one or two times, they are quite fun but I don't really enjoy them that much since I usually get really unlucky with it like lucky critical hits on the opponents part usually.

I recently just started one recently on Shield. Other than required Pokémon like starter, it’s shiny only. So I brought all my eligible shinies from Home and I can only use them. Most of them are high level so they posed a challenge early on because of obeying.

I'm going to do it when I get to Black 2. I've been revisiting the DS era of Pokemon lately (playing on set mode, which basically means I can't switch out Pokemon during trainer fights when they're switching) - completed Platinum and HeartGold recently, and am working on White right now. I didn't nuzlocke those, but I figure I'd make what I think is the best Pokemon game (BW2) more interesting by nuzlocking it. I don't have any experience prior, though, and I'm just not very well studied in Pokemon in general so I'm bound to mess up a bunch and will probably have to restart several times. I think I'll turn off set mode for that though, it's already hard enough lol

I've tried them, but never finished them, I feel if I put the time in I would enjoy it, but as of now I've never completed it.

I havent even though I have been playing pokemon for years...I felt I wouldnt do good and I wont understand what I have to do on it. So I doubt I would ever do that myself even though I still love playing pokemon games. :/

I started a new nuzlocke with my friend last week, hopefully it will be one that I can actually complete.

My friend and I are going to take turns playing Pokemon Emerald on his computer for like 30 minutes at a time. We're going to be recording gameplay and recording us talking too and the plan is to make a video series of us playing it for Youtube.

I have tried a couple nuzlockes the first one I lost to Araquanid in Ultra Moon and the 2nd I beat that being Pokemon Shield it was quite the adventure but I almost lost to Leon because he kept getting Ancient Power boosts on his Charizard and my best and signature Pokémon of the playthrough was a Noctowl.

SonicOlmstead : LETS GO NOCTOWL

I love when it's always the weird early game pokemon that somehow turns into a boss unexpectedly. Did he survive the nuzlocke?
