Thanks to the new post editor, I've been editing my layouts inside my posts, because the preview in the actual layout editor is inaccurate. Unfortunately, this has caused me to run out of edits for the day, twice now.

Usually I'll make a thread, then edit my layout into it. But since I was out today, I risked posting with my layout on. That made my 4th total cannibalized thread. It sucks too, because I planned on posting a lot of threads today. But I don't feel as comfortable without my layout.
Maybe I'll just post in threads I may have missed and wait till tomorrow.

In an old thread, David said the limit was put there to prevent users from destroying all of their old posts.

I think the best way to fix that, is to put a time limit on editing. Where after a certain amount of time, you can't edit it anymore. Gamefaqs has theirs at an hour, but that feels too short. I'll see what David thinks of the idea, I'm sure he's got a reason for not going with that. Though this new thread issue is aggravating.

I'm in for changing the limit to be time-based instead of how many times can you do it on a day, as long as this only applies for editing your own posts.

The reason for David to not go with this could be to avoid double posting. I know I've edited posts of mine several days after posting them to save a double or triple post, so maybe we should also revise the double posting rule if we change the one for editing posts.

One hour is indeed too short of a limit (not for Gamefaqs and it's spammy boards with almost no rules whatsoever), so I wonder what limit could we use for this idea. Maybe 24-48 hours, to reduce exploiting this rule during a posting competition, but it's just a suggestion.
