What are some of the best anime shows either finished or ongoing, I'm looking for new anime to watch so far I've found a few being Tokyo ghoul RE, Akame ga Kill, seven deadly sins, but I've been looking for more anime I like action adventure and fighting animes any suggestions?

I can offer a few suggestions based on the genre. Everything might not be to your liking but if you find at least one new show that'd be cool right?

I'll just list a few off and give a very basic synopsis.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari - Airing currently.
Basically the generic 4 heroes story but the protagonist is consider the "useless" one as he's the shield hero. So far it's been a bit dark but still enjoyable all the same. It's only got two episodes out at the moment though because the new anime season just started.

Tensei s***ara Slime Datta Ken aka I got reincarnated as a slime
Is a funny light hearted anime about a dude that gets reincarnated as a slime.. It's pretty goofy, but it's liked by a lot of people so if you want something to watch might as well give this a shot. Its on like episode 14 or so I believe.

This is a sumo anime, It might not be your thing as it's sports/action/fighting but I thought I'd mention it anyways... its currently on around episode 14 or so.

Baki
Is a very graphic fighting anime. It's basically about 5 death row convicts going to Japan to "taste defeat" and they fight masters of kung fu etc... there's lots of tricks involved and a bit or gore... It's certainly enjoyable though.. If a bit extreme at times... its finished airing so you can binge it...

For me personally it may not be my favorite however I believe that Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is the greatest anime I have ever watched.

It just really depends on what genres you are looking for really, like if you want a slice of life anime I've heard that lucky star is rather popular (it could probably also be summarised as cute girls doing cute things). Although if you are looking for comedy, it is subjective of course so you could give pop team epic a go, aggretsuko is also a pretty fun watch in my opinion. Or you could try Death Note or Code Geass which are still even now rather popular and held in a rather high regard. If you don't mind a long anime then I'd also recommend Dragon ball, it's very popular and a fun watch. If you want a romance anime Kimi ni todoke and say I love you are good choices, they're really adorable and touching animes. If you don't mind something that's a bit more gory then I'd highly recommend looking into hellsing ultimate. Isekai animes (another world) are also rather popular nowadays too so if you wanted to give one of them a try I would also recommend tate no yuusha no nariagari and slime datta ken, they do a good job of standing out even among the many other isekai animes coming out today and with good cause too because they're very enjoyable and they have a lot of charm. I would also highly recommend overlord, it's probably my second favourite anime of all time if I'm completely honest with you. XD

For me some of the best ones were Sword Art Online, Eyeshield 21, and Persona 4 The Animation. I think that they are all great and deserve a watch.

zanderlex : Eyeshield 21 was amazing, I love it and I have really fond memories of it I have watched it from beginning to end 2 times now but I am hoping that at some point this year I will be able to watch it again for the 3rd time for old times sake. XD

My "big 3" are Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Fist of the North Star. FotNS is a bit of a hard watch if you don't have an acquired taste for old, action anime. However, the other two are amazing watches.

Steins;Gate is also amazing. Not action like the other three listed above, it's more sci-fi, but the story is phenomenal and will captivate you pretty quickly.

I will one-up Sonic's suggestion of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and zanderlex's suggestion of Persona 4 The Animation. Both are also incredible.

Konosuba is also good if you're looking for something a bit more humorous, though it's a tad bit fanservice-y.

Finally, obligatory plug: Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works was my anime of the year last year. That s*** STILL has me hyperfixated on it and I've been getting into the entirety of the Fate series due to it. Been a wild ride, everything I've seen so far is good but nothing has beaten UBW yet.

definitely watch the dragon ball franchise if you havent but aside from that attack on titan, fate stay night, full metal alchemist, jojos bizarre adventure, my hero academia, naruto, and darker than black are all fantastic.

Real s*** though, I just haven't been watching anything currently in production lately. I plan to watch Heaven's Feel and the Babylonia Singularity adaptation of Fate/Grand Order (though I do know the story since I play the game) when they both finish. I'm not really keen on watching anything currently still airing if it's only going to be a season or two (or a handful of movies like Heaven's Feel). I also plan to watch the fourth season of Hero Academia when it wraps up, but I'm not expecting much from it since I didn't like the third season at all.

Something else a bit more recent I failed to mention - the Persona 3 movies (with the last one being... last year?) are also excellent. I also love One Punch Man but season 2 definitely didn't hit as hard as season 1 did.

Also you might like Hero Academia season 4, it's definitely better than season 3 IMHO.

I would also suggest Fairy Tail now that I've seen it. There's lots of action in it and the duo of Natsu and Gray really make me think back to Meliodas and Ban.

sonicmcmuffin : very late and I only remembered to even reply because I was looking at this thread anyway...

The Konosuba movie was f***in' fantastic man. I wasn't expecting THAT much out of it but it was seriously a great watch and re-kindled my love for the series. Wouldn't put it on DBS Broly's level but very slightly underneath it for how much it gives the series justice. All I can hope for now is Season 3, which they said they'll do if the movie did well.

My personal favorite is Durarara!!

It takes a while for the anime to really pick up, since it needs to establish the stories for an entire ensemble cast of characters, and the pacing can feel kind of weird as a result...

But once it picks up, boy does it pick up.

The anime is home to my all time favorite character, in Izaya Orihara as well.

I’m really intrigued about parasyte as of late. Like who doesn’t want to watch lil body snatcher parasites who eat humans?

Also dragon ball series but that’s common sense. Who doesn’t like the show? Pffft
