I saw the new Fantastic Beasts movie a few days ago. I liked some parts, I didn't like some others, and some blew my mind in good and bad ways.

Here are some theories I have on the future of the series based on what happened in the newest movie.

Theory 1: World War II.

I'm pretty sure that World War II has a huge influence on the series for 2 reasons. First of all, ever since the first Harry Potter book was written decades ago, fans know that Dumbledore beat Grindlewald in 1945, which is the year World War II ended.

On its own, that's a pretty big coincidence but there's a huge foreshadow about another war in the new movie. Grindlewald has a speech where he says he doesn't hate muggles but basically says if they keep going down the path they're on, they would destroy the world, thanks to war and greed. There's even a scene where Jacob says "not another war".

Supposedly the movie takes place about a decade before World War II starts. The logical theory would be that Grindlewald does his evil stuff and is a cause of the war. That is not my theory. My idea is that like World War I, muggles start another war, but Grindlewald uses the war as a way to put fear into all his followers. Even though the muggles are fighting other muggles, Grindlewald will manipulate his followers into believing that they are all threatened and to fight back, starting an even larger war.

Then when Dumbledore beats him in 1945, things start to return to normal.

Theory 2: Another Dumbledore

The movie isn't as much about Grindlewald as it is about finding out who Credence is. 5 minutes before the movie ends, this was what I was thinking. "For a movie that's about finding out who someone is, they're doing a terrible job at it."

That's because different people had a different story for who Credence is. By the end of the movie he had like 5 different identities and backstories. Then in the final scenes, Grindlewald tells him he's a Dumbledore too, possibly Albus' brother. This is pretty much impossible because throughout the seven Harry Potter books, literally all of Albus' siblings have been confirmed. There was never any mention of another brother and was said he didn't have any others, literally making this new Dumbledore not Canon.

There are three possible scenarios.

A. J.K. Rowling and the movies writers really did break canon just to add a new character and another story.

B. Grindlewald is lying to manipulate him. This is very possible.

C. My theory that he actually is a Dumbledore. I believe that over the couree of the remaining movies he redeems himself Darth Vader style. He starts to see all the pain and suffering he's caused everyone, and he obliviates everyone, erasing all memories of him.

Jacob (along with a good chunk of America) are obliviated in the first movie. Supposedly the only reason he still remembers everything is because only bad memories are erased and technically bad memories are the only memories they all have of Credence, so it could work.
