There is really sad news in not just the wrestling world, but the entire sporting world. The greatest wrestler that has ever walked on the planet, Bruno Sammartino has passed away just this morning at the age of 82.

Bruno was born on October 6th, 1935 in a small town in Italy (Abruzzi, Italy). Bruno had an extremely rough childhood, his sibling passed away during his young age, the height of World War II torn his small town apart, he and his mother wants to go to the United States because both him and his mother sees that the US was the Land of Opportunity (wrestling pun intended, if anyone of you watch wrestling today), and in 1950, they flew to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and he started his career as a body builder until Vince McMahon Sr. seen Bruno and offered him to work in the WWWF (now WWE)

Everyone remember Bruno for holding the WWWF Championship (now currently the WWE Championship) for a record 8 years, and headlining and Sold Out Madison Square Garden a record 188 times during his entire wrestling career, and he pursuit his in-ring career for 22 years until his in-ring retirement in 1981, and after that, he worked as a commentator throughout the mid-late 1980's and then worked behind the scenes until 2013 when he return to Madison Square Garden to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and for the remaining 5 years of his life, he contenues working behind the scenes in WWE until his death on April 18th, 2018.

Prayers goes to the whole Sammartino family.

Rest in peace Bruno, you will be missed by many

He was great and one of the all time greats. He was World Champion for years almost the entire 60's to be exact. He lost it in the early 70's but gained it right back and held on it again for a long time.

You could argue if it wasn't for him wrestling would not have boomed like it did the past 25 years of the of the 20th century.  He got a lot of people into wrestling
