Pokemon Advanced Adventure Actually jyounger, they could have gotten the rom on another site and ported it to a flashcart. Then they could own it in real life.
Pokemon Emerald Right now, I am actually doing a self-made challenge on here in that I am using my starter as the only pokemon I will use in battle, the only other pokemon I will use are hm users.

Project X Zone: Limited Edition

A good Timesink
This game was one I had high hopes for. I saw pre-release stuff for this at gamestop almost 3 months before hand, and I hyped myself up. I prepared for whatever the game was going to be like. Let me paint you a picture, you might enjoy it more than me. You go to the store, and you see this game on the shelf. On the case, you see all your favorite characters, from Ryu and Ken to Megaman and Zero to Kite and Blackrose. So you buy the game, thinking it can't be bad with so many successful franchises backing it. It even starts off at a nice pace. You start out in front of a mansion with a pair of characters by the name of Kogor? Tenzai and Mii K?ry?ji. Mii has hired Kogor? to help locate a stolen item known as the Portalstone, some sort of magical macguffin which has magical powers. All of the sudden, several monsters begin appearing, and you are tasked with fending them off. When you do, all they say is that they should look into it, then cuts to somewhere else entirely. This pattern begins to rinse and repeat for a while, until you get your first mainstay characters at the end of the first chapter. Now, the first thing I did was look for some way to replay past levels, as I wanted to be dealing more damage than I was. I looked through all the menus in the game, and lo and behold, what did I find? Nothing, except for a training mode, used to learn the controls and timings better. So I just shrugged, figuring that it would be unlocked at a later point. Fast forward 15 hours and 20 levels later, and it was still nowhere to be found, and the game was getting really hard, as the bosses gained the ability to multiply. At this point, I was greatly relying on the randomly dropped healing items to get through the game, so I thought 'you know what would be really nice right now? An item shop, something so I don't have to rely on the RNG to get by' So I went back into the menus, and presto, all that was there was training mode, and a bio sheet for all the character's a... The game of a Lifetime
Oh man, this game. My love for this game is hard to put in words, but I can sure try my best. This game, is the combination effort of the Dream Team, consisting of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Square's Final Fantasy series, Yuji Horii, a freelance designer and creator of Enix's popular Dragon Quest series, and Akira Toriyama, who had worked with Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball. Kazuhiko Aoki produced the game, Masato Kato wrote most of the plot, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda scored most of the game before falling ill and deferring remaining tracks to Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. That's the people this game had working on it, this game had so many people with amazing talent backing, it had its own pedigree . It had everything you could ask for from a game. A decent difficulty, a nice storyline, character's that made you feel for them, and made you want to see them succeed and survive. It didn't just point you at the bad guys and say 'kill it' they gave you reasons to both love and hate the character's. It shows you that your actions mean something, and aren't just a plot device on the route from point A to point B. The game tells you the story, while still leaving just a bit for your imagination to play with, and is so rich with culture and and humour, and the whole game smells of an unmatched creativity. The game knew when and how to take itself seriously, but also knew when you should relax and have a bit of fun.

In a gameplay aspect, I suppose that I should say that It takes a unique take on battle for two reasons. One is that while most games transfer you to some alternate dimension to fight any enemy you may happen across, Chrono Trigger does not, you stay in the area you were in before the fight started, just in a 'battle mode.' The second thing they do is that while you get techniques that you can use as a single character, you can also wait until more characters can take their turns, and combine techn... Pokemon Advanced Adventure

An advanced adventure
I love this hack, I found it when Coolrom started posting rom hacks with their normal roms. I found it to have a great storyline, and a fair number of nice changes, such as the 'Genetically modified' Pokémon that appear in each town, and the fact that all the starters are catchable in some form or another. It does have its flaws, such as the bug that erases all the tms you may have at any time, and the fact that the Elite Four only have legendary Pokémon, and you can at best only have two at that point. Another thing is that the trainer dialogue could use a little more diversity, as all anyone will say before battle is 'Battle Me.'  And after battle, all they will say is 'You're really Tough.' Another thing is that all events in the game are marked by either invisible Pokémon or bad eggs in the PC, and the 'event flags' can overwrite your Pokémon, which really sucks. All the same, I thought it was a brilliant new take on what can now be considered an old classic.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable

A change in perspective
Now I'm wasn't that big of an Atlus fan before Persona 3 Portable, I only owned Shin Megami Tensei IV for the 3ds, and never got around to finishing it. But this game grabbed me and pushed me into the role of the Protagonist. The difference between this version and any other version of Persona 3 you may have is two things. One, you may choose the gender of the protagonist, and two, there are few non-dungeon character models or anything for that matter. The most they do with it is that they take a 2.5 dimensional version of the area you are in, besides dungeons, and you are a blinking dot on that map. To interact with something, you have to maneuver your dot over the object or person in question, and then you can interact with it. By pressing the R button, a symbol will show up over any object you can interact with, serving as a somewhat helpful guide. The real draw of this version is the fact that you can change genders, and the amount of things that change is enormous. Anyone who knows Persona 3 or 4 knows what the Social Links are, and for those who don't, here's a quick rundown.

Social Links are a system where the bonds between your character and various other characters determines the strength of the main character's special ability, the ability of the Wild Card, which allows him/her to summon almost every persona in the game, besides those of your party members. Upon fusion to create a persona, the level of the social link will determine how much extra experience you get for that persona, and upon completing a social link, you get a unique persona to fuse from that arcana, which is extremely powerful 9 times out of 10. Now why did I mention this? Because when you change the main character's gender, a lot of the people who represent the arcana of the social links get swapped out, and those that don't usually have at the very least some dialogue changes. As well as changing who the social link is with, sometimes they even changed how you start the social... Read the rest of this Review
