Fire Emblem

Review: Fire Emblem (GBA)
Another review for another game made by the infamous publisher Nintendo, which is probably one of the most well known game publishers to date because of game franchises like the Mario franchise, The Legend Of Zelda, Metroid etc. This game belongs to the franchise Fire Emblem, which started around 1990. This game is one of the first games of the franchise which was published in Europe and also one of the first Fire Emblem games for the GameBoy Advance. And like every time before one starts playing a game, one could ask what the elements of this game are and what this game makes so special and unique.

And like in every single one of my reviews, we take a look at the graphics first. Even if this is a GameBoy Advance game, it offers very great graphics. You can look at a lot of different and very detailed artworks of landscapes, characters. The characters are drawn in an anime like style, everyone has an unique appearance, and a lot of them look very adorable or amazing, you can not simply hate most of the characters' appearances. I will give 10 points of 10 for the amazing art.

Next we will talk about the sound. The sounds do fit to everything, and do not sound annoying or unreal at all. But something that is really worth mentioning in my opinion is the music. It doesn't just fit to every situation, it is also very diverse and unique. You have some upbeat catchy tones, some dark and sinister melodies and also very sad and melancholic ones. I really enjoy listening to the music during this game, and this is why I have to give 10 points out of 10, 10 points for a very unique diverse and memorable soundtrack, which isn't often the case in games.

Then one could also ask how addictive the game is. This game is also a very addicting story: not just the game play is very entertaining, but also the story makes someone very excited for what happens next. One can put a lot of hours in playing this game for sure because it has a big and complex story wi... Read the rest of this Review
Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga

Review: Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga
And again, we will talk about the famous plumber that everyone of us knows and loves, who's name is Mario. This game is called "Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga", and like the title already says, Mario doesn't have to do this journey on his own. No. Mario's younger twin brother, Luigi (also mistakenly known as the "green Mario" ) is accompanying him and is also one of the main characters in the story of this game. But what is this game about? Is this game like the other Mario games which we know and love? Do you also have to jump on Koopas and save the princess? These questions will be answered during this review.

Let us take a look at the graphics first, as always. If you compare the graphics of this game to different Mario games, you will notice that the graphics here are as magnificent as the graphics of other Mario games. A lot of details, a lovely design, a lot of variations between the characters, areas, enemies etc., so I will give 10 points out of 10 for the graphics, because Mario games are known for it's great graphics and designs.

Now we will talk about the sound. Also the sound is magnificent. The sound effects for every action fits well, there are a lot of tracks for a lot of areas and battles, everything sounds pleasant to your ears. And like the other Mario games (especially the newer ones), we have some great voice acting, especially by Charles Martinet, known as being the voice of Mario and Luigi. His Italian gibberish really makes Mario and Luigi sound like they really speak Italian, so it lighten ups the situation and makes it more enjoyable to play, therefore I will also give 10 points of 10, great job.

And how addictive is this game? Well you can already imagine what I am going to say, if you read my review for the game "Mario Vs. Donkey Kong": it's super addictive. Mario will always be the king of addictiveness. You just can't get enough of the pleasant atmosphere while playing this game. I also will give 10 points ... Read the rest of this Review
Disney\'s Donald Duck - Goin\' Quackers

Review: Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers
Disney is very well known for creating a lot of toon characters, like Mickey Mouse, Goofy etc., which are very famous especially for very young people (or has been very famous, I mean, nowadays, the youth is just playing with their IPhones etc... ). This game, entitled "Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers", which is for the Nintendo 64, the computer and other platforms, is about one of the most well known Disney characters, Donald Duck, like the title is saying. But before playing this game, one could ask what this game offers, and if this game is worth playing. We will get the answers for this questions during the review for sure.

First, we're going to take a look at the graphics. The backgrounds are way more detailed than the characters and enemies and also very "cartoon-ish" and not very realistic, which fits to the game, because it's all about toons after all. The characters are not very much detailed, nut just because they are toons, but also because the graphics in Nintendo 64 games aren't the best graphics at all, the things are always looking a bit like cubes. But in this game, it's not that awful with the cube-looking, so I will give 7 points out of 10, for the better look in comparison other games on the same platform.

And then, there is the sound. The most impressive sound is the voice acting for sure, which sounds very well, and well, I will never understand how the voice actor of Donald Duck can sound that much like... a duck. The music may fit to the areas, but the music isn't that memorable. And the sounds are fulfilling their purposes, sometimes the sounds are pretty funny, because it's all in a toon world after all, and the purpose of toons are to make people laugh after all, so everything is fine with the sound, I would give 7 points out of 10 therefore.

So, how addictive is this game? Well, while playing the game for the first time, one could definitely tell that the gameplay is very similar to Super Mario games, which are very ... Read the rest of this Review
Metroid Fusion

Review: Metroid Fusion (by MisakiMei)
Well, it seems that Nintendo knows very well how to make successful game franchises. We all know game franchises which are very successful and well known like Super Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend Of Zelda etc, and we all know that Nintendo created all of them. And this franchise is also one of Nintendo's masterpieces: the Metroid franchise. Metroid is therefore known that the Metroid games (especially the first ones) are combining genres like Jump 'n Run, Adventure & Shooter, so that one could consider the genre as "Shoot 'n Run" or "Jump 'n Shoot". Metroid Fusion is one of the first Metroid games, and the first Metroid game which has been released for the Gameboy Advance. I have to admit that I really have been addicted to this game when I played it for the first time, but what in particular makes this game so special?

First of all, there are the graphics. And again I can only say how great and detailed the graphics are. Although there aren't that many areas, they still manage it to make them look very unique. Also the enemies are very detailed, and of course the protagonist of the game, the bounty huntress Samus Aran, who is also able to do a lot of different moves and abilities during the game. Don't forget the artworks during the cut scenes. I will give 10 points out of 10 for the unique way of how the graphics look like.

Second, there is the sound. For a Gameboy Advance game, we have some great sounds, which really fit well, and also kind of sound realistic, giving it a lot more feel, like you can empathize with Samus during the game. The music always fits so well to each level and situation, and sometimes, the music is so catchy that you will get some ear worms, like for example some boss battle themes. So I will also give 10 points out of 10 for the sound, which gives a lot of empathizing factor.

Third, there is the addictiveness of this game. And like I said before, this game is very very very addictive. One could describe the ... Read the rest of this Review
Mario vs. Donkey Kong

Review: Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Mario, the plumber... We all know him, we all love him, we all enjoy playing the games containing him. In 1981, Mario made his first appearance in the infamous arcade game Donkey Kong, and since then, Super Mario became the probably most successful Nintendo franchise ever. This game for the Gameboy Advance is the beginning of the series entitled "Mario vs. Donkey Kong". And there are always a lot of questions before playing the game, like in every single game else which one hasn't played yet. And this review should give one the answers for the questions one have before he or she starts playing the game.

First of all, we have the graphics. One has to admit, that the graphics in this game are fabulous. In contrast to other games for the Gameboy Advance, the graphics in this game are resembling 3 dimensional graphics. And also, the background and characters are very detailed and have a very lovely design which one just simply can not hate. I can only give 10 points out of 10 for the great work, the makers of the game really focused a lot on the design of the game.

And there is also the sound. The sounds fit very well to every action, the music fits to every level (and the music is also very diverse, there are a lot of different background tracks for each level!) and we also have Charles Martinet, the voice actor of Mario and almost every other character of the Mario universe, who is doing a great job at giving Mario and the others his voice. Therefore I also have to give 10 points out of 10 for the sound, for the diversity, catchiness, it fits very well... let us say that everyone did a great job.

Then there is the addictiveness. And I really don't know why, but Mario games will always have this magic that they are so addictive. I don't know how often I finished this game, but I played it over and over again. It is always a lot of fun playing these levels, and if you fail somehow, you can just laugh out loud, because playing Mario games is a ... Read the rest of this Review
