Giantpong 3 Game has 50 different play boards, many of which the ball gets stuck in the walls. Paddle controls don't work at all. This game is essentially unplayable.
R-Type III - The Third Lightning Much better than Super R-Type. Unfortunately this game is super hard to find and not part of my collection. :(
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE This game is wonderful and any PS3 owner should have it.
DragonStomper Unplayable... :( RGR Plugin says "Device Cardslot load failed: invalid rom file size" and JStella says "JStella does not yet support cartridge type AR"
Maze Craze Just another example of something that might have been fun in 1978 but isn't fun now.
Marchen Adventure Cotton 100 Got hooked on this game, and the series as a whole, after purchasing Panorama Cotton for the genesis at an online rarities auction... this game is great, and very detailed for a sidescrolling shooter.

Dark Chambers: The Other Dungeon Crawler
Anyone who plays Dungeon Crawlers with any level of frequency has heard of the Gauntlet series, which has spanned gaming hardware from the classic arcades to modern systems and will be rebooted for Steam players this summer. But there was something that came before Gauntlet.

In 1983, two years before Gauntlet's original incarnation was playable at your local arcade, a game known as Dandy Dungeon was released for the Atari 800 personal computer. The creators of Gauntlet drew their inspiration from Dandy Dungeon. In 1988, Atari re-released the game under the name Dark Chambers, for their 2600 and 7800 gaming consoles. Neither version gained much notoriety, because by 1988, the dated Atari 2600 had been in the looming shadow of the technically superior Nintendo Entertainment System for a few years, and the 7800 never took off, also thanks to the NES.

However, every forgotten system has its gems that are a blast to play, and Dark Chambers might be that game for Atari's second-to-last home console. Graphically speaking, the game is above par with other games on the system and on par with games for competing systems. It doesn't quite have the charm of the Gauntlet titles for NES, but the graphics are well drawn given the limitations of the 7800, and exceed those of the original Dandy Dungeon for the 800 XL/XE. That is to say, the 7800 port of this game is the "prettiest" version in existence.

Unfortunately, though, the sound is lacking quite a bit. One thing that held the 7800 back against its competition is the fact that it was given the same sound chip as the earlier 2600 console, although that's not the game's fault. What IS the game's fault is that the game has no soundtrack whatsoever. The only sounds are a few simple sounds for firing, inflicting damage, taking damage, picking up and using items, and climbing down ladders to the next level. Trying to get through all 26 levels (not to mention the harder bonus levels afterwards) without any ... Read the rest of this Review

The Legend Lives Forever: A Review of "The Legend of Dragoon"
The Legend of Dragoon is a game released in 2000 by Sony Computer Entertainment, for their own system, the Sony Playstation. Released late into the Playstation's life, it was considered at the time to be SCE's grand masterpiece for the system, and was directed by Shuhei Yoshida, who is now president of Sony Worldwide Studios. This game was supposed to be the one that took down Final Fantasy 7, regarded by many to be the greatest RPG on the Playstation and the game that made RPGs mainstream in the west, regarded by some as the greatest RPG of all time, and regarded by few as even the greatest game of all time. Although The Legend of Dragoon had high ambitions and a lot of potential, it was not able to meet its goals or break the records that FF7 set, selling only 280,000 copies in Japan, and just under a million in North America. Let's take a look at the less-than-popular game that would have been, and maybe should have been, one of the best RPGs of its era.

The game makes use of a few FMVs throughout the story, the first one taking place right after you select 'New Game'. It shows the town of Seles, the home of the main character, Dart, being destroyed by an invading force. The graphics shown here are of fairly high quality, but the graphics of the first few scenes in the game, including the town of Seles, might not keep a person interested if less-than-stellar graphics were a deal breaker. Of course, any RPG gamer knows that it's not about the graphics, and while the renders themselves are pretty rough, the art is great. Sony obviously had a lot in mind, but the technical limitations of the Playstation didn't allow them to render every single scene of the deep setting that is described on the back of the game's case. Often times you will see any moving objects drawn rather poorly, but the backgrounds will be of excellent quality.

This could also be one of the reasons that The Legend of Dragoon did not soa... Read the rest of this Review

Ultimate Paintball: A Review Of My Very First Game Boy Game
Ultimate Paintball, Reviewed by Zurenriri, 03-29-2014

A quick run through of how I came across this game: I actually found it in the back seat of my grandmother's Dodge Intrepid while on the way to dinner when I was about 12 years old. It probably belonged to one of my cousins. I didn't have a Game Boy at the time, but I stuck it in my pocket and stashed it away until I got home. A couple of years later I bought a Game Boy Advance SP after saving my allowance for weeks and got to play this game.

Graphics:
For a Game Boy Color game, they're actually pretty good, but not stellar. While you're in the field, the environments look dull and drab and there's only one desert environment, that changes to a much more detailed forest environment in shooting mode. The sprites for each of the enemies are in black and white, perhaps disappointing, because it makes them stupidly easy to target and hit. The color of your gun depends on the team color that you picked, but they all look and behave the same regardless of the color.

Sound:
Pretty awful, there is only one song that plays in the entire game, in the intro, menu, field, and shooting mode, it loops on repeat, and it even cuts out for a moment when you're switching between screens. This is not the emulator's fault, it does this to me on my real copy as well.

Addictiveness:
Like the Flappy Bird of a decade and a half ago, it's a pretty solid little time-waster. If you have a Game Boy in your pocket and you're waiting at the bus stop, or in the checkout line, or wherever else you might have 10 minutes to kill, you can pull this game out, point, shoot, and repeat. It gets old pretty quick, but you never have to worry about finding a save point. Each of the levels takes about 10 minutes to complete and you have a password at the end of each one to continue on to the harder levels. If I remember correctly there are 5 levels in total, but I'm not sure.

Story:
There isn't... Read the rest of this Review
