RetroGamer9000's Last Game Comments | Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - All Monsters (Cobi) | One thing I am curious about is if you can still trade, regardless of all the monsters being available. | Super Mario Bros 3Mix | I will definitely do a Let's Play at some point. Does anyone know if there is a downloadable version of this hack? | Mega Man | As soon as I am done with my Let's Play of Mega Man, my videos are going up here. | Pokemon Complex Crystal (v1.33) | Is it possible to Nuzlocke this hack? | Castlevania HOD - Revenge of the Findesiecle | I am going to do both a written review and a video review of this hack. And both are going to be very extensive, covering every single playable character, as well as any and all flaws/non-flaws I can find. | Fire Emblem - Dream of Five (v4.0) | Is this a complete game, or just a partial game that is still being worked on? | Pokemon Shiny Gold X Version | I read in a previous review on the original ShinyGold hack that one of the major issues was the graphics and sprite work. Was this issue ever fixed? |

Earthbound - Holiday Hex 02-11-14 09:02 AM |
Holiday Hex : An EARTHBOUND Christmas I am an active member of the EARTHBOUND fan site, STARMEN.NET. One of the things I enjoy doing on STARMEN.NET is checking out the new and latest EARTHBOUND hacks that have been made or are a work in progress. One of the hacks that has grabbed my attention has been Holiday Hex. It was a collaborative creation by STARMEN.NET members Mr. Tenda and H.S. as an entry for the 2012 STARMEN.NET Holiday Funfest - as well as being the winner of the Funfest, mind you. So, what is it about this hack that makes it so fun? Well, allow me to explain it as best as I can. Graphics: Holiday Hex's graphics are similar to that of its "parent" game, EARTHBOUND. The game's sprites, animation, and enemy battle sprites - though slightly altered to fit the hack - gives about the same nostalgia as you would expect from playing EARTHBOUND. Sound: The sound effects and music of Holiday Hex is the same as you would hear from EARTHBOUND. This adds more to the nostalgia that you feel while playing its "parent" game. Addictiveness: Though the game is quick to finish, for those who are hardcore fans of EARTHBOUND, it remains to be an addictive game. With hidden "easter" eggs and references to popular shows at the time of its creation, it remains to be a game to come back to again and again. Story: The story portrayed in the game is an interesting one, to say the least. You play as two kids, Tina and Kyle, who go out to save Christmas. Now before you go all "(snore) This is boring.", allow me to explain why. You see, the town that the two live in is in a time loop where every day - until their great adventure - is Christmas Eve. Therefore, the two set out to find the cause of the problem and to fix it before there is no Christmas...ever. I could go into more detail, but that would be spoiling it. If you want to know more, play the game. Depth: As fun and enjoyable the game is, there really inst much depth to i... Read the rest of this Review |
Castlevania HOD - Revenge of the Findesiecle 12-28-13 11:38 AM |
Castlevania HoD - Revenge of the Findesiecle [Good, yet Flawed] Having played Castlevania : Dracula's Curse for the NES as a little boy, I have always held Castlevania at a high regard in terms of depth and gameplay. Harmony of Dissonance was no exception to that. So when I found out that there was a hack of HoD available here on Vizzed, I jumped to the occasion, paid the Viz fee, and began playing it. What I found as I played it was a good - yet flawed - hack that needed a lot of improvements. Hopefully, in this review, I can help bring to light all of the issues that can be addressed, and hopefully someone can improve this game to make it 100% brilliant. Graphics: 7 One of the major things that factors into a game's creation is the graphics. Most of the time, if a game has terrible graphics, it will not be engaging to the player. Before I began playing the game, I read a previous review that was left regarding the game and its features. One of the things that struck my attention was the options of playing as different characters. Upon seeing this, I began to experiment playing as them. And this is where I found FLAW #1. Allow me to elaborate by going over each character one at a time. Juste Belmont: Juste [the main protagonist from the original HoD] has pretty much the same sprite animation as in the original game. His move sets are the same and the overall playability of him is flawless as it was in the game he is from. After all, this IS his domain.Super Mario: As I began playing the game as Mario, I was at first taken aback by his sprite animation. Seeing him as his original 8-bit NES self, I wondered if there was really anything to offer with such a character. I later found out there really wasn't much. For starters, his attack [which is the classic Fireball] does not go very far and you have to continuously jump just to hit any of the candles. This is mostly due to Mario being as he would be in Super Mario Brothers without a Growth Mushroom. That's right...he's tiny. Now, I can see where in ... Read the rest of this Review |
