Star Fox

FOX!... Do a Barrel Roll!
The first title in the Star Fox series that ensured that Fox McCloud would be a household staple for years to come and have him featured in several titles and crossovers like the Smash Bros series. Not only that, it has given fans an ability to want more and now Nintendo is giving them more! This could not have happened without this game. Star Fox was released in 1993 and was made by Nintendo EAD using the Super FX chip to try and simulate 3D through a 2D programming engine.

Graphics: 8/10; Firefox did something unique here when it came to graphics, it provided a bunch of different designs and shapes and turned them into a 3D model of a ship, among other enemies. Was it very appealing to look at through every stage? Not really, but it did provide some integral space combat and fluid movement with the controls to let you feel like you are piloting the ship. Space looks like space, and the training mission type area you start at flourishes with the beauty of green and white backgrounds. The bosses are fun to look at, but they are inevitable the same style of fight where you have to shoot the glowing structure. They are still very impressive to look at and take enjoyment in the pleasures that the eyes have given you.

Sound: 8/10; The game enjoys a plethora of different musical environments and has one of the best starting themes in video game history. The very first level, puts you right into the game and it is one of the highest points when it comes to Star Fox. If there was something they did right throughout the series it was the music and the way it envelopes you into the game wholeheartedly. Each stage has a different tune that allows you get into the spirit of hunting various enemies through the skies and hoping to not get hit by a random asteroid you didn't see till the last minute!

Addictiveness: 8/10; How much more fun can you have when you are flying your own ship, shooting down other geometrical shapes from the skies going pew.. Pe... Read the rest of this Review
Digimon World 2

Digimon: Digital Monsters
Digimon World 2 comes from a trio in the series of Digimon World games for the PlayStation. The first one was a pinnacle of the breeding, tamogochi style keeping the Digimon happy so that it can digivolve, get stronger and go through several quests in the process. Digimon World 2 decided to throw it all out of the window and gave it a turn based RPG flare which I think was a classic change to the series. This paved the way for classic video games like Dark Cloud and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon by having the dungeon randomly generated and only able to move so much before you have to leave before your Digi-Beetle loses some vital parts. Here is my review of the innovation that is... Digimon World 2.

Graphics: 9/10; Digimon World 2 has graphics that will sometimes make your mouth gape wide open and just look in at awe as one of your favorite Anime shows come to life before your very eyes. The dungeons themselves, aren't very detailed, mostly staying flat with just walls of a different tile color to each level but the Digimon themselves is where it shines. The developers go to great lengths to make each Digimon look as it should, fully rendered 3-D graphics when they spot you out of the corner of their eye in the dungeon, how they creep up towards you slowly looking for a battle. And when combat starts its very clear that the PlayStation was put to good use in keeping these graphics solid and cohesive. The different teams all have a unique base-outline and provides an added splash of color to the game. Since this game is all about the Digimon, I think they did just fine with the graphics because the dungeons, are just there to move around till you get to the final boss anyway.

Sound: 7/10 Diiiiiiiigimon.... Digital Monsters..... Digimon are the Champions! Everyone that knows of the beloved franchise knows that, that theme song is by far the best song with lyrics in a long time, so where is it?.. Not in the game?!?! I have to give the sound a knock for... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars

A Childhood Memory
As a child, the Super Nintendo also known as the Snes was always fighting for my attention with the Sega Genesis and winning for the most part, and here is one of the games that did just that. Super Mario RPG, Legend of the Seven Stars was different then most Mario Games back in the day, while most were plat formers this one decided to try and branch out to a different genre in the hopes to attract more people to the ever growing loyal Fan base. I was already a fan at the time, playing games like Mario Kart and Super Mario World, but this game... brought my love of RPG to the forefront and gave me a game I will never.... ever... forget.

Graphics:  9/10; The SNES was known for putting together good images and a display of strong ram power for the graphics to be different then the NES. This showed the hype of the graphics to the forefront, the characters were shown and you knew which character was what. Mario, the idealistic plumber for example, was what you knew him as, and you could see from the red to the mustache that he looked every bit like him. Could you say the graphics were full rendered 3D-Images? Some may gripe over it, but I think for the power of the SNES, this was as close to 3D as you were going to get. Each character you fought or you controlled was rendered all around, and it was the first time we saw many of our beloved characters in such a vibrant way. If you consider the amount of effort it had to take, showing us new locations and having to bring them to life, I say they did great in this department.

Sound: 10/10; I want to paint a picture for everyone, you are in the forest.. Its like a labyrinth in which you have to know the exact way to go but even if you think you do? You end up taking a wrong turn and going to the right, instead of the left! Now with that going on, you are being attacked constantly by enemies and the never-ending notion you are going to have to be stuck here forever.. And in a way... you don't mind. The...
