ClassicSable-eye's Last Game Reviews
Mortal Kombat II
07-08-13 01:50 PM
MK 2
So here it is. It's a Mortal Kombat game review. Lets get started.

Graphics:
Not bad but not perfect. The fatalities and cut scenes more than make up for the not so good in game parts game parts.

Sound:
Not much to say on this one. It's mediocre at best but there are some better parts.

Story:
It's Mortal Kombat and that means that to first time players, and the entire fan base of players what ever story there might be it has either been overlooked or not put in at all.

Depth:
It's a fighting game but it has a lot of re-playability. This being said there isn't much variety in general which is why it only deserves a 4 in depth.

Difficulty:
Not too difficult but it has it's moments, even on easy mode. However the most difficult part is keeping your credits for the few fights on the higher levels of the tower type thingy.

Addictiveness:
With all of the challenges you may face during this game one of the hardest might just be putting it down as minutes turn into hours.

Overall:
Normally I would just use the mean but I enjoyed the game too much to give it a mere 5.5 of of 10. Even with all of it's faults it is still a must play for the original Game Boy.
Super Mario World

A great piece of gaming
Yes it's a Mario game and you probably know a bit of the story already. Yes the princess has been captured but you have to remember when this game was made, back then it was still fresh. Back then it was yay a Mario game, now it's how bad is the security over there in the mushroom kingdom.

This game really got me and many other people addicted because of the sheer amount of levels, most of which are fully re-playable after beaten, and the catchy tune played through out.

For you compleationists out there you might have a hard time getting everything you want out of this game (collectables mainly)but  you will have a great time trying to (and so will everyone else).

Oh yeah, did I mention it has yoshi's (the Japanese for "go", yeah strange) so go have fun playing Mario.
Pokemon Emerald

The best of Pokémon
DISCLAIMER: First of all lets state one thing, I will be comparing the generations of the pokémon games and I have played on all generations at one point but more so from the third generation and up (this being third generation, but I think you might already know that) so comparisons of first and second generations might be a little bit vague. End of disclaimer.
As you can guess form the title I believe that Pokémon Emerald is the best pokémon game. However you might be thinking why, because surely a series will get better as it goes on, but I think it got it right from classic pokémon to new innovative parts of game play. For example I thought 5th generation took all of the classic parts of previous titles (like Red) and threw them away, and the story from the 4th generation  was just poor.
Any way back to Emerald. This game is incredibly addictive and even deserves a ten for that one, but because of this I do not recommend this to be played any time in-between times when you wish to be doing some-thing else , such as going some-where or just going to bed if you need to get up early for any sort of reason. This is because (fun anecdote time) I woke up one morning at the weekend and realised I had nothing to do. Then, remembering this site, I thought I'd go on pokémon emerald for an hour or two... several hours later, well you get the point about that. Even though the graphics and animations are not up to standard compared to that of Black 2 or White 2 but compared to the entire game boy advance archive of games it comes quite close to top on the list of animation and graphics, and they have aged very well compared to Red and Gold (not Heart Gold, the original). The animations for certain moves such as tail whip can get incredibly tiresome with it's overuse even late in game but these animations can be turned off in the menu. It can be moderately difficult if you aren't willing to add 5 to 10 minutes for each pokémon after ... Read the rest of this Review

Tekken Advance

Tekken Advance- Tag Battles
Right, lets get started near the beginning (near only because I assume you know how to navigate the menu) on the character selection area. This strategy revolves around medium to fast characters such as Yoshimitsu, so stay far away from the slowest character, Gun-Jack (King is also quite fast but he is only of a moderate use because of his attacks)

The best thing to do at this point is to attack in the quickest way possible, as at the normal and easy difficulties these first few rounds shouldn't pose any threat if you don't let them swap to another fighter at any point as the first will be healing their wounds (to a point) and the second fighter will have full health.

This is where the real benefit of having faster players comes in (at around half way through). Do an attack that causes knock back for the enemy, or when you are on the floor (knocked down) roll backwards, as to be as far away from the enemy as possible.

Double tap the arrow key towards the enemy (making you sprint towards the enemy) and attack when close, punch or kick doesn't matter but kick is more advisable for slower characters, this will cause the enemy to fall down on a successful running kick (with the possibility of a large amount of knock-back depending on characters chosen) and a successful running punch will just stagger the opponent for a while. If you punched, follow it up with a flurry of quick attacks, if you kicked, follow it up with a low kick, and if your kick sent the opposition to the other end of the screen repeat the previous steps.

When one of two things happen switch out to another character, the enemy attacks or when he/she starts to block, when the new character comes on to the screen they will be running. This is why you should only switch out when the enemy is either on your side of the screen or in the middle of it as otherwise the attack won't reach. By now we have should have established the fact that we should do a running attack when... Read the rest of this Guide
