NASCAR Heat 04-10-13 02:30 PM

Easy, simple NASCAR game
This is NASCAR HEAT for the Game Boy Color.
This game has 10 drivers to choose from the 30 or so drivers that were running at the time in NASCAR, however it has the most popular drivers at the time, such as Jeff Gordon, Bill Elliot, and Dale Earnhardt Sr. There are a small number of tracks as well, only one short track (Richmond), one road course (Watkins Glen), both super speedways, Daytona and Talladega, and a few intermediate tracks. The tracks don't vary much difference beside the Glen which being a road course has left and right hand turns. You will in each race run against 4 other cars attempting to finish first.
There are three simple modes to play, Quick Race, which is a single race where you choose a driver and a track and race, Championship, where you run all the races and try to finish in the top 3 in every one, and Beat the Heat, a challenge mode with various challenges, such as longer races, or having worn out tires.
It is the easiest NASCAR game I have ever played, just drive down pit road, and hold the A button the whole time, the entire point is to stay straight in the game and not lose speed, an extremely easy thing to do.
The graphics for the Game Boy Color are fine, you can tell the cars apart and it does have a few shades of gray for the track surfaces and green for grass.
The sound effects are fine, however there is one background song that plays at all times, and if you are like me and need to hear the beeping warning to pit, you have to keep the sound on.
The game is like I said really simple to play, just learn a straight line strategy and run down pit road(there is no pit road speed) and you will win every race.
I still like the game though, but I am a NASCAR fan who played this game when it came out, if you are looking for a good NASCAR game I suggest going to the two games that came out in 2003, NASCAR Racing 2003, NASCAR Thunder ... Read the rest of this Review
