Adventure Island Man this game is hard! I've been playing for over an hour and can't get past world 2.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Certainly an easier version than the Game Gear! You can actually see what your doing on the boss fights.

Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga
04-02-21 02:25 PM
Superstar Saga for the GBA

Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga was released for the Gameboy Advance near the end of 2003. It is a different type of video game from anything I have ever played. It is a role-playing game, otherwise known as an RPG. The only other game that is similar to Superstar Saga that I'm familiar with is the first Zelda game on NES. I enjoy playing that game quite a bit, but it was more of an action/adventure style of game. This one is totally different, but every other part of this game I could rate pretty high. The graphics and storyline for Superstar Saga were very well done. I just could not get past doing some of these "Advance" moves and other things that made the gameplay less enjoyable for me.

Graphics 10/10: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga looks a lot like a cartoon. Everything is very animated, and it looks great. The graphics of Superstar Saga remind me a lot of Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland. I would have to rate the look of this game the same as I rated that one. Both games have a lot of color to their backgrounds and sprites. This is one game, of several, I've played on the Gameboy Advance that took full advantage of the 32-bit handheld system. Like with Nightmare in Dreamland and Wario Land 4, Superstar Saga is its own game. Most of the other GBA games I've played were just ports.

This one stands out, and I guess that's why it looks as good as it does. Nintendo gave more time and attention into creating a game with a lot of color and detail to it that most of the Mario Advance and Donkey Kong ports didn't have. Long story short, Superstar Saga looks amazing!

Music 10/10: I'd have to rate the music of Superstar Saga about the same. I cannot find one dull track in the whole game. Some people would argue about that and say that they got some of the music from Super Mario 64. I've never played that game, so I wouldn't know. As far as I'm concerned, every song is its own song unlike anything I have ever heard. Cackletta's theme ... Read the rest of this Review
Sonic Chaos

Another Frustrating Handheld Sonic Game!

I don't know what it is about the Sonic games Sega did for the Game Gear! I didn't mind playing the first Sonic game on the Game Gear. I hated playing Sonic 2 on Game Gear, but I did manage to push through that one and finish it without the Emeralds. Sonic Chaos is the third handheld Sonic game that Sega released on this console near the end of 1993. The gameplay is crap in this one too, and I cannot finish it! I've beaten it maybe once or twice, but I can't do it now! All the other categories for this review are positive, but the gameplay just sucks!!

It feels like you're just getting into the same problems with the last game, but you get to continue more in this one. The story felt sort of bland too, and these games were starting to get pretty tiring on this handheld system that didn't have the popularity of Nintendo's Gameboy. I can see why the Game Gear never got to be that popular. Even the first game wasn't that great of a game either, but it played way better than this one and was more original with the plot.

Graphics 8/10: I don't think Sonic Chaos looks as good as what the previous game looked. Sega did give Sonic and the other sprites quite a lot of detail, but it isn't as good looking of a game. It still looks okay, and you can tell that they were trying to give Sonic more of the same type of look he would have in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but it just don't work for the 8-bit system. The backgrounds are about like what they were in Sonic 2 for Game Gear. They're decent but nothing amazing, and overall, this game does look pretty nice but not as good as before.

Music 10/10: Perhaps the strongest point to Sonic Chaos was its soundtrack. There isn't a dull track in this whole game just like you got with Sonic 2! The track for Mecha Green Hill Zone is my favorite. They all sound fantastic. One thing Sega did right with these games was the music. I think both Sonic Chaos and Sonic 2 are about equal when it comes to their soun... Read the rest of this Review
Batman

Batman (The Video Game)

This game is based off of the classic Tim Burton Batman film that was released in the cinemas in the summer of 1989. About a year later, in 1990, a video game was made for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I've been playing this game for a while now on Vizzed, and I can see why people like it so much. However, I don't find myself enjoying it like they do. The gameplay just plain sucks!! I swear to God, it's just as bad as Mega Man 1! It may even be worse in some ways! I think most people like Batman on NES because of all the other positive aspects of the game, but I can't rate it as high as other people did.

Graphics 8/10: Most of the areas of this review I can rate pretty high. The graphics are one of the game's finer points. The cut scenes look really cool, and the Joker looks just like Jack Nicholson who made Batman "The Movie" such a great film! I don't know what to say about the rest of the levels. They look okay, I guess, but not like the cut scenes that lead into the stages. Batman on NES is a nice looking game, but it is still 8-bit. There wasn't a whole lot that could be done, but it still is just as good looking game as the Mario Bros. games released around that time.

Music 10/10: I could not find one bland or boring track in this game! Every song sounds so good. The one for the first stage is my favorite, but they all sound really cool. Batman on NES has an amazing soundtrack which is probably why this game is so popular with people. Good music can only do so much, but it does make me want to come back and at least play it just for that reason alone. This is why I can recommend this game. It has a unique and original soundtrack that is nothing like the music in the movie. It is something entirely different, and it works extremely well. This is why the game stands out so well, and the music made it so popular.

Gameplay 1/10: Batman on NES plays a lot like the Mega Man games. It is an action/shooter/beat'em up/ plat... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man 2

My Review of the Second Mega Man Game

Mega Man 2 was released for the NES near the end of 1988. It is one of the first games in this long running series of games Capcom released for the NES, Gameboy, and SNES systems. Mega Man 2 is a lot like the first one with Mega Man shooting enemies with his arm cannon. This game has two difficulty modes, and you have more items. I didn't feel like you had to follow a certain order with the stages either. There are some improvements that make this game better than the first one, but there still are a lot of problems that have kept me from enjoying the second Mega Man game very much either.

Graphics 7/10: I can't tell all that much of a difference from the graphics of the first game and the second game. Things look pretty dated in this one too. There may be a little more animation with the sprites in Mega Man 2, but it still looks kind of dull. The backgrounds look about the same as the first Mega Man on NES. Things haven't really improved much here. I'd just sum it up and say, that Mega Man 2 is an okay looking game, but I don't feel like it is all that wonderful and is still an early NES game.

Music 9/10: Most of the songs in Mega Man 2 sound amazing with the exception of the Heatman and Woodman stages. I wouldn't say that this game is perfect, but it is pretty close to it. The first one had a nice soundtrack, and this one does too. To me, they're both about the same with the second one being somewhat better. The previous Mega Man had several levels that weren't that great, and this one has a couple that aren't so good either. For the most part, Mega Man and Mega Man 2 sound amazing with the exception of two levels.

Gameplay 5/10: Mega Man 2 is just like the first game. It is an action/shooter/platforming type of game with Mega Man shooting at enemies with his arm cannon. Players get the stage select option at first and can play these stages in any order. It is probably better to play the levels in a certain order just like b... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario World - Chaos CompleXX

SMW Chaos CompleXX

SMW Chaos CompleXX is a ROM hack of the popular Super Mario World game for the SNES. I discovered this hack from a YouTube gamer by the name of Pkgam back in the summer of 2015. I haven't played it all that much like I have some of the other hacks of Mario World like the Lost Adventure or the Reality Project. This is a short game when compared to the original with only 3 worlds. Chaos CompleXX turned out to be a pretty enjoyable game with some interesting design. The only downside was how it felt almost incomplete without as much content or story as SMW, but the gameplay and layout is all still there.

Graphics 5/10: Chaos CompleXX is very similar looking in quality to the original SMW. Although, a lot of the sprites don't fit with the backgrounds in many of the stages. This hack just looks like a jumbled up mess in certain stages. The person who made this hack looked like they tried to bring in backgrounds from Yoshi's Island and blend them in with sprites, characters, and other background objects from Super Mario World. I don't know, it's similar to SMW but not really? These sprites and backgrounds just don't look right. Much of it is brought in from Mario World, but the placement of these environments just don't work.

Music 9/10: I have to rate the music of Chaos CompleXX the same as I would in the original game. It's basically the same soundtrack as SMW. That game had a nice collection of songs with the exception of about one or two. CompleXX follows the same musical pattern from the original with the caveman theme. When Mario is riding Yoshi, the game starts playing bongo drums. I felt like both the hack and the original sounded better than Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES. The castle theme is also a good track, and that song was used a lot in the SMW cartoon. CompleXX has a great song selection to it, but there was still room for improvement.

Gameplay 9/10: Chaos CompleXX basically plays the same way as Super Mario World. It is ... Read the rest of this Review
