MegaMan Battle and chase review (mild spoilers)
Mega Man Battle and chase is a PlayStation game that was released only in Japan, but was later ported t America with the Mega Man X Collection.I will be reviewing all aspects of this game,so let's get started!
Graphics:7 The graphics for this game are pretty good.Using a pseudo 3-D style similar to early racing games, but on full 3-D environments. The graphics can look a bit muddy at times and that's why I didn't rate them higher, but still they do look pretty sharp.
Sound:5 The sound for this game is good, just not great. The sound track contains pretty nice tunes for each track, but at the end of the day you'll forget which track you heard them on.Sound effects,on the other hand, are much better, and each sound has it's own individual feel. The blasts make a blasting sound, colliding with objects makes the appropriate sound and so on. They're not much on they're own,but together they make a pretty decent sound track.
Addictiveness:8 Like any Mario cart clone, this game is about using power-ups to help your car reach the goal. However, this game also introduces a new mechanic, the ability to take parts from another racer. At the end of each race, you have the choice to take one part from your opponents car:wheels, body, wing and engine, each impacts the cars overall performance and is usually suited to the terrain the racer is found on.Ice Man's cars wheels are immune to slipping on ice, while Napalm Man's wheels are immune to all the traps found in his stage. This makes you have to go back and re-challenge them at a harder difficulty to get all of their parts.Combine that with hidden racer challenges and special parts to find, and you have one game that is sure to have you coming back for more.
Story:3 The story is pretty weak and is really only there to have an excuse for a race.A world grand prix has been announced with the grand prize being a large sum of money all of the robots have a reason to enter,so each... Read the rest of this Review
