Fire Emblem - The Sacred Stones 08-15-14 07:50 PM |
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Hello, and here's my review of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on the Game Boy Advance. For those who don't know, Fire Emblem is a long-running tactical RPG series made by Intelligent Systems and all games have been published by Nintendo. You may know the series from Smash Bros., where Marth (from Dark Dragon and The Sword of Light and Mystery of the Emblem), Roy (from Sword of Seals), and Ike (from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn) have all been playable. You may have also picked up Awakening a while back, and know the series from there. Well this is the 8th entry of the series, and it stars siblings Eirika and Ephriam. Now, onto the review. GRAPHICS The animations are wonderful, not much to complain about there, except the new animations lack the over-the-top flashy stuff that's the best part of the graphics. Like I stated the animations are flashy and over-the-top (excluding the ones for the new classes like the Great Knight or the Summoner) and I love every single bit of the animations. Not much to really complain about here. SOUND The sound's great, however I really don't remember any of the tracks like I remember some from the previous game (Blazing Sword) like Attack and Together We Ride, and really for a part of the game I didn't play any sound so I really can't tell you much. All I know is that there weren't any bad songs. ADDICTIVENESS Like most strategy games, Fire Emblem's formula is VEEERY addictive, and keeps you coming back for more. I don't know how but I could probably play this game every day for a year. Seriously. I don't know how to describe it but the game should get an 11 for addictiveness. STORY Oh god, now I'm going to have to be negative here. The story is...meh. The twists weren't very much, and a lot of the characters felt very bland, especially our leads, Eirika and Ephraim. There were a few good characters like Amelia, Joshua, and L'Arachel, but compared to Blazing Sword ... Read the rest of this Review |
Angry Birds 04-21-13 05:41 PM |
Angry Birds Review Now, to start this review, I'm going to state I am far from a fan of the mobile games. I find them decent, however, like Call of Duty, Angry Birds has milked and merchandised because of casual gamers thinking it's The Godfather or Citizen Kane of gaming. I also think it's the sad cause of why the PlayStation Vita's sales are low is likely because of mobile games like this. I don't have a Vita myself (I have a 3DS.) but I know there is at least one game that is better than my favorite Android or iOS game, Jetpack Joyride. Now, onto the review. This is a ROM hack for the "NES" that is flat out repetitive. Let's fly in to, "Angry Birds". Graphics: Eh....this is the best part of the game because, let's face it, the rest of it is a repetitive extravaganza. Sound: The only sound is a repetitive chiptune that wasn't a well written piece of music to begin with. It's the only sound, as stated before, however, it could have had SFX, different music for the title screen and other sceneries. Plus, it isn't the original theme song, which was an okay song. Missed opportunity. Gameplay: It is repetitive. Did it have different birds? No. Did it have interesting features like the rocks and the TNT? No. Are the physics flat out terrible? YES. All you are doing is the original gameplay with dumbed down physics. Now, regarding the physics, you are likely saying, this is the Nintendo Entertainment System, it's because of limited power. Well, I'm no expert on power, but didn't the Game Boy have the same amount of power that the NES did? Why I am bringing this up is because of Strength, the Pokémon move was in Gen 1 for the Game Boy. It allowed you to push rocks in your way. Why, couldn't the blocks move? Verdict: It's might say Angry Birds, but it's a poor game with very little effort. |
Pac-Man 01-16-13 04:53 PM |
Worst Arcade Port Ever Hello, it's Evil G, that user that is always lurking. Y'know, that one. I'm reviewing Pac-Man 2600. Pac-Man is one of the best arcade games ever. It pretty much was the game that took the video game industry to a new level. (Get it?) When it was announced to hit the 2600, people were excited as all heck. Then they sadly played the game. And that's the version we're talking about. Regarded as the worst arcade port of all time, Pac-Man 2600 likely led to the infamous Video Game Crash of 1983, with E.T. and Custer's Revenge. Here, I'll explain why Graphics They are plain terrible. I coudn't tell the difference between a normal ghost and a vunerable one. You might be saying, "Butt dis iz teh 26hudwen." I'd say,"Look at Pitfall. It has good graphics." Sound I would let Fluttershy say this, but I have to thanks to a lack of media tags. "Awful, just awful." Addictiveness About as addicting as watching kittens massacred or Ray William Johnson. You pick between the two. Difficulty It's extremely difficult....thanks to the hideous amount of glitches. Verdict: I actually recommend you play this, not because it's a good game. Just because of how deplorable it is, you need to play this. Just once. |
