Super Mario 64

Here we goooooo!!
Introduction

Welcome to my review of Super Mario 64, one of my favorite games of all-time, and it has been for several years! It was my first 3D Mario game I ever played. I fell in love with the unique gameplay it offers. Here’s what makes this game so legendary and lovable!

Story
7/10

Princess Peach got kidnapped again. But this time, she had baked a cake for Mario first, so it’s original. Well at least there’s an interesting plot with how Mario has to save her. He has to get Power Stars that unlock doors and keys that unlock different parts of the castle. He has to get 70 stars to break the curse of the endless stairs so he can face Bowser for the third time in the game.

Graphics
9/10

It blows my mind how this game looks. Again, I had never played a 3D Mario game before playing this, so I couldn’t believe I was seeing everything in 3D and playing these huge worlds. I love the detail on these enemies especially King Whomp and… ooh Bowser looks COOL! Too bad I have to fight him, right?

I still enjoy looking at the attention to detail in the backgrounds and other graphics for these courses. Wet-Dry World has a neat city background, and Rainbow Ride has rainbows everywhere for some reason! The stars are pretty, and it is so satisfying to grab one of those shiny yellow stars. Certain graphics such as the signs are nothing special, but that’s fine. The designers of this game clearly tried.

Animation
8/10

I really like the special effects this game has to offer, such as the sparkly-thingies that accompany Mario when he returns from a course. Mario’s movement is nice, and many animations make things in this game exciting. Riding on a Koopa shell is so hype! What an amazing explosion it is when Bowser hits a bomb. BOOM!!!

My only problem with the animation in this game is that certain things either don’t appear or don’t look right when they a... Read the rest of this Review

The Wii Sports Expansion Pack... Just Kidding
Introduction

Welcome to my review of Wii Sports Resort! This is a fun “sequel” to Wii Sports. Fun fact: I didn’t have this game until only a couple years ago. Then when I got it from the lovely GameStop store, it didn’t work. So I had to get a different copy. Anyway!... this game is pretty cool I guess. I have occasionally played this with friends, and it’s been fun. So I’ll explain why this game is fun and sometimes compare it to the original Wii Sports!

Graphics
8/10

I am impressed that this game’s graphics are so shiny. And the attention to detail with the beach resort theme is quite nice. It gives this game a good vacation feel. I love the style of my Mii’s vacation shirt. I like the pretty view that I can see while playing table tennis. Most of all, I enjoy seeing the pop cans on the table tennis table that I can smack with my ball, and I enjoy seeing the nighttime 3-pointer basketball contest! Never thought a nighttime sports event in a game could look so good! These graphics aren’t perfect, but there aren’t a lot of horrible flaws with them either.

Animation
8/10

Some animation in this game is a little lacking in my opinion, such as when the pop cans are hit in table tennis. Not that I expect them to spontaneously combust, but it could be better and more funny. I really like the animation in this game though. The game starts off strong with the Miis being in an airplane and skydiving. That scene entertained me when I started playing the game for the first time! Good job to the creators of this game for how nice the table tennis animations are! Those are probably my favorite. A close second would be the fireworks in the 3-point contest. It’s so satisfying when I play the return challenge and whack the CPU in the face with a ball a ton of times (don’t judge me), and even greater when I spike that ball! It’s cool that there are fireworks when I make a bucket in basketball ... Read the rest of this Review

I thought Mii's always had arms and legs??
Introduction

Sliding into this game review like WIIIIIIIIII!!! Alright Wii need to move on from these overused puns. Welcome to my review of one of the video games I have the most memories of! Wii Sports is a simple game with 5 sports to play by yourself or with friends. Most of my memorable moments playing Wii Sports were with a friend or a few friends.

I have had this game for 10 years and have accomplished almost too much, but it’s still fun. What have I accomplished? Well, a couple platinum medals, 2000 skill points in tennis, and I’m at pro status in all sports… which doesn’t mean anything to me except for bowling but that’s alright.

The best thing about this game’s impact on my life is that it’s the subject of many jokes in my conversations with friends. So why’s this game so great? I thought you’d never ask…

Graphics
7/10

Wii Sports is for the Wii, so I’d say the graphics are good and not too basic… for the most part. I love how bright this game is! It makes me feel like I can still have a great day playing sports even when it’s raining or snowing outside. Baseball especially is such a summer vibe. I love seeing that digital sunlight especially when the ball is flying high in baseball!

The atmosphere of each sport is so fun. I love seeing the audience members (when they’re visible) and seeing the landscaping! These are the cleanest stadiums/arenas/alleys/whatever else I’ve ever seen. And they magically stay clean even when people are running around and whacking things and throwing things. Whichever Miis are mowing the grass for these places almost deserve a raise, but they also almost deserve to get fired because they keep mowing some grass and neglecting the rest. *stares at the golf hills in disappointment*

Now for what I really wanted to talk about… the weirdness of a lot of this game’s graphics. First of all, the Miis don’t have legs in m... Read the rest of this Review

Pinball MadNES
Review Preview

Hey, vizzed members! I’m Pac and today I’m reviewing a should-sound-at-least-a-little-bit-familiar game called Pinball for the NES. Today, at long last, breaks my huge streak of reviewing nothing but Pac-Man games (I’m called Pac for a reason, yo). Enjoy the review and don’t be shy to give constructive criticism! I greatly appreciate it. It helps me make more fun-to-read reviews for you guys.

SOUND EFFECTS

10/10

I rated this a 10 because every sound is fun to hear, especially when the ball goes really fast and keeps hitting everything over and over! I struggled to pick a favorite sound effect since I love all of them a lot. But my favorite is the pause sound effect. It’s the same one as another NES game! Any guesses as to what that is? …No? OK, it’s Mario Bros! Yes, the original Mario Bros, copyright Nintendo. (At least I think so, my memory isn't too great)

MUSIC

10/10

I rated this a 10 because the title screen theme has me jamming to it every time in my chair. Yes, it actually does have me doing that, don’t question it. There aren’t any more themes, but for a basic Pinball game like this one, you shouldn’t have excessive music. It would ruin the gameplay. Even not having a game over theme is perfectly fine here in my opinion.

GRAPHICS

10/10

I rated this a 10 because, WAHOO! these graphics are cool all throughout. A few examples are seals, penguins, cards, and giant pink targets (and an orange one for good measure). There’s even a bonus room with Mario and “some girl”! You know I’m excited about that! (My username has Mario in it for a reason, yo)

ANIMATIONS

10/10

I rated this a 10 because all of these animations are fun to watch and I’d watch them more if I didn’t have a high score to set. One of my favorite animations is when the seals are... Read the rest of this Review

The Pac attacks, the ghosts become snacks!
Review Preview

Hey, vizzed members! Today I’m reviewing the Sega Game Gear version of Pac-Attack, a funny puzzle game starring Pac-Man, the ghosts, and a whole lotta bricks. Enjoy this review and feel free to tell me what you thought of it!

MUSIC

9.6/10

I rated this a 9.8 because the title screen theme doesn’t get to play all the way through. Instead, the title screen shifts over to the top scorers screen and that song plays. The music greatly resembles the Game Boy version’s music. The notes sound nearly identical for the most part! However, the game over theme is faster than it’s supposed to be.
The music is upbeat but not loud, which is an interesting mix but it works so well here!

SOUND EFFECTS

9.8/10

I rated this a 9.8 because this game has wonderful sound effects! There’s a short one that plays when you click on a mode to choose. The other sound effects are pretty much normal but Sega added a sound effect for when a block hits the bottom.

The reason this isn’t a 10 is that... pause for a second... there’s no pause sound effect.

ADDICTIVENESS

8/10

I rated this an 8 because it’s very addicting but I could grow tired of it after a few weeks of playing it. I have never been a puzzle game guy but Pac-Attack happens to be one that I enjoy playing frequently. I find normal mode to have more replay value because I have to try hard to prevent the ghosts from piling up and I keep becoming more skilled at moving the blocks the right way.

STORY

To0 bad/10

Oh too bad so sad, this game has no story because it shouldn’t need one for you to have a jolly good time playing it. Keep reading!

DEPTH

10/10

I rated this a 10 because not only does it have plenty to do for one player, it also has a 2-player versus mode! So if you want other people to experience the same fun you... Read the rest of this Review

Luigi's Mansion 64

How to avoid a game over
Here is how to avoid a game over in Luigi’s Mansion 64!

After unlocking the upstairs door of the castle, go to the stairs leading to where the star door is, above the small door leading to the upstairs area (which is now a 90-star door instead of 50). If you don’t have 90 stars, walk onto the stairs and then do a backward long jump (BLJ) by holding the keyboard down and then back up while mashing the Z button and shift if you’re in Mupen64Plus. When Luigi gets to the wall next to the door, repeatedly press Z and shift again when Luigi lands. Eventually, you will go right through the wall next to the door if done right.

Regardless of whether you did this glitch or not, what you have to do next is go into either the hole where Wing Mario Over the Rainbow was or the hole where Rainbow Ride was. Both of these holes will warp you to the castle grounds where you will lose a life. I recommend doing this when you’re already at 0 lives so you only have to do it once, especially if you had to do the BLJ. After 0 lives, your live count will show up as M1, which means negative 1. Now, every time you die, your lives will go down to M2, M3, etc. They will continue to double digits (M10, M11, etc.) so you won’t get a game over. Enjoy this fun glitch that will make the game more fun because you won’t have to face that game over screen until you close the emulator!

By the way, this glitch makes 1-ups poisonous. Each one takes away one of your negative lives until it reaches 0 again. So if you decide to do this, don't grab any 1-ups so you can show off all your negative lives! :D

Luigi's Mansion 64 1st star in Boo Lake + cool trick
Here is how to get the 1st star of course 5, Boo Lake, of Luigi's Mansion 64 and how to get the same star to appear twice. You have to do both ways in this order: the way in the first paragraph then the way in the second paragraph. You have to do the first way to be able to get Big Boo to appear using the second way. Got it? I wish this wasn't so complicated -_- but I figured it out (on accident)! I tried my best to explain this, so I hope it isn't too complicated for you!

How to get the original star to appear (first way):

Attack the 2 ghosts on the top of the main floor, then go to the 2nd door on the very left side. Attack the 3 ghosts you will see that are very close to that door you entered. After you attack those 5 ghosts, Big Boo will appear in the same place he appeared in Super Mario 64. Attack Big Boo and the star will appear at the same place as it did in Super Mario 64. Go up the giant steps and get the star.

The same star twice? (second way to get Big Boo to appear)

Do the first way to make Big Boo appear that I explained above, then get 5 ghosts that give text boxes (it doesn't matter what order or what certain text box ghosts you have to get, thank god). Go into the last door on the very right of the top of the main floor. You will notice that Big Boo appears in that room instead of where he's supposed to be. Attack him, then another star will appear. Look at the picture I took of the two stars. The star on the left is the one that the Big Boo in the wrong room (using the second way) gave me. The star on the right is the one that the Big Boo in the correct place (using the first way) gave me. Sorry if this was too complicated, I tried to make it simple but it was really hard to find out this trick!
