Cat Dating Sim - minus the dating.
Hey hey hey! Guess who's not dead! I'm here for a snappy, sassy, and potentially juvenile review! It's time for Catz, with a "z." Because that's kewl. Alright! Lets start this stuff off. I actually owned (and still own) this game as a kid. I also owned Horsez (why not "Horzez" that would be twice teh kewls) which was the glitchiest game and also dumb, hard and kind of boring. But unlike Horsez, Catz is thankfully much more enjoyable.
Alright, with drill No.1: the graphics! The graphics are very easy on the eyes and give this game a colorful boost. It's fairly cute and cuddly, but sometimes the art style shifts slightly at certain points, the greatest contrast being the cartoony human portraits and the realistic cat ones. But the difference isn't that jarring, and it's all really nice to look at. This game never really looks bad. I give the graphics a solid 8.
And now for the grace of thine ears, the sound rating. The game starts off with a song mostly consisting of cat noises. Well, if you didn't know this was a cat game, now you do. The song's fairly okay, but while to say most of the soundtrack is not exactly outstanding, you hardly ever get annoyed by it. It doesn't hinder the game at all, but it doesn't help much either. The meowing noises and use of sound is pretty good, and the meow noise (or miaou or nya or whatever you prefer) sounds just like a cat would. The sound get a 7, lowered by standard music but heightened by the sheer quality of the noises used. I actually want an electrohouse or happy speedcore remix of the opening theme, though. You know, for meows.
Addictiveness is a rather floaty subject for this game. If your into sim games (like me,) you will probably like playing this game. If you like multiple endings (like me,) this game is for you. If you dislike either, or are allergic to cute, well, uh... good luck? I enjoy it in a sort of guilty pleasure way, trying to find as many breeds of cats to raise and getting end... Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow 05-13-14 11:51 AM

Trenchcoats are always in style
Well! Here's for another review, and a platforming game I've actually beaten! That's rather rare. This game, the first in the two-part Chronicles of Sorrow, is a standout piece in the Metroidvania genre. It also has my favorite protagonist in the series ever and they really need to bring Soma back and oh my god, but I will refrain from gushing over how awesome he is to keep this review clean. Sorta refrain. Yeah. So, first things first, graphics! Graphics shmaphics. I don't care much for graphics, but I cannot deny they can help or hinder a game. I'm a person of style over realistic-ness, but this game blends both together in a mirage of well-put-together stages, excellent character designs, and fun stuff to look at. My only miff is that some of the enemies are just recolors of other enemies, just harder to kill. This is rather evident when you run into a Siren. The Sirens look like Harpies. Which is what they are a recolor of. Yup. My rating for graphics is a 9.
Now, the music. This got some gooooood musics. Oh and the sound does its job just fine, but musics!?This stuff is pretty good. Not the best per se, but I like the composition, the remixes, and the boss themes alike. They do their job well. My rating for the sound in this game is a 8.
And now, how much fun is the game? Do you take pleasure in beating up mundane monsters, yelling at the screen while your friends sit next to you also yelling at the screen, and finding secrets, and beating things up, and finding secrets, and finding better ways to do things a la beating Skeldrich with the bow and arrows as opposed to using the sand wand? Well, this is a good game for you. It does have those moments where you want to chuck the keyboard/Game Boy Advance/controller at the window (lookin' at you, room full of ghost dancers,) but the overall fun-ness of the game is the much fun. Also, stealing abilities is so much fun.Just make sure to pick up a Zombie soul on the way to the Headhunter. Fun-ness... Read the rest of this Review

Pokemon Moemon (Emerald) 12-02-13 06:35 PM

Interesting little hack here
I have heard much about Moemon, and look what I find! It's a pretty good hack, even if the only thing that was really modified was the sprites. It also reaches the same level of hilarity when it comes to the genders as Touhoumon (Male women? What?)The sprites are very?well done. I'm not disappointed. But otherwise the game is exactly like Emerald, and will rate it as how I viewed Emerald. The hack is a very visual, so if you don't care for stampeding everything in your path with a team of little girls, then go play Emerald.
EDIT: Okay, forget what I said about "no change in game whatsoever." There is a FREAKING TELEPORT HUB hidden in Littleroot. Also, some of the terrain is changed up a bit, i.e. giant puddles & flowers. But otherwise, it is practically the same game.
