Shadow of the Colossus
08-14-13 12:25 PM
a clearly rushed game that got lucky
Make no mistake, shadow of the colossus is a great game. But its also clearly rushed and has some problems because of that, its still a wonderful game, but had it some more development time, and it could have been much better. Shadow of the colossus was released in 2005, its main premise is to defeat the sixteen colossi that reside in this world.

Gameplay: Let me start with the basic rundown before I get to the flaws. The only real thing you can fight in this game is the colossi. You fight the colossi by climbing up to their weak-spot and stabbing it with your sword, repeat that until you kill it. This isn't all that easy though, as your character's grip runs out eventually, and you will have to let them rest to get it back. Now, the colossi are usually about 60 times the size of your character, so how does the camera handle this? The camera does it's best to focus on both you and the colossus, but it can be difficult to see where you are going, and look at the colossus, making you have to take your eyes of it, or run to a better place so you can see both your character and the colossus. This can be pretty annoying. Though, you have complete control over the camera, which I appreciate. Using the right analogue stick allows you to move the camera in whichever way you please, and it will stay there, this is very useful for finding your way while looking at the colossus. The camera will also move on its own at some times, and it does some pretty dumb movements when doing so, sometimes it will put itself behind a rock, or not focus on you, and then you will have to correct it, which can be annoying. Now, you also have a horse, your trusty steed. The world is pretty big, so riding on him is almost a must. Though, the controls on him are just awful. To move him forward, you have to orient the camera in to just the right place, then hold forward and X, and he may move in the right direction, probably not.. If you get him going and then run into an object, he will ... Read the rest of this Review
Plumbers Don\'t Wear Ties

"The Room" of video gaming
Plumber's Don't Wear Ties, the worst game ever made. I will be doing a review of The Last of Us, (it may take awhile though, I'm not sure if I can do the game the justice it deserves) what I believe to be the best game ever made, so it made sense to show you guys the worst before the best.

Disclaimer: "Hey Ender, the angry video game nerd already talked about this! You lose all credibility!"

Yes, the AVGN talked about this, but
one, that doesn't make it untouchable (please don't mention his video in the comments)
two, the AVGN is a ranter, not a reviewer.

Now, lets get on with the review

Back in the 90's (man, we all so young back then) full motion video, henceforth known as FMV, was a huge new thing. It wasn't like full motion video today, with games like Last of us (I pledge my soul to thee, Last of Us) and Heavy rain having animated cut-scenes that look fantastic. There weren't motion captures back then, or game systems that could handle a decent, animated FMV. So FMV's were literally just scenes shot from camera's, with human-beings. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't a fan of them, even as a kid. FMV systems costed far too much money, and I didn't see them as worth it. Enter, the 3DO. This was yet another system brought in to capitalize on FMV's. The FMV's on the system actually looked pretty good, and it was clear to see that the system could handle some never-before seen things. That is what made the release of this game all the more confusing.

Plumber's don't wear ties was released on December 31, 1994, though it looks like it was released in 1949. And the game was quite quickly met with negative reviews (including this one.....yay)  Let's begin.

Gameplay: If you can call it that, I will talk about gameplay. The gameplay consists of pressing, right, left, and, bear with me now, the A button. The only gameplay in this game involves picking what will happen next, that's it. The game really... Read the rest of this Review
Castle Crashers

Crash some castles
Castle Crashers is the best game for the XBOX Live Arcade that I have ever played. It has an intense amount of replay value, awesome gameplay, amazing music, funny jokes and characters, and much more. This game revived the Beat 'em Up franchise, and I've never had more fun on a Beat 'em Up game since "Turtles in Time" back in 1992! Yeah, I love this game. Made by a small team of game designers, this game is a gem for the system, and like Halo 4, its a great reason to buy and XBOX360. And here's why I think this way.

Humor: Some of the jokes in this game are pretty funny, yet there is some toilet humor. Even in the most serious parts of the game, it made me laugh with the jokes.

Gameplay: This is one of the strong points of this game. You will fight enemies across the entire country, and you will fight some interesting bosses.

The controls are some of the best I've experienced, not only with a Beat 'em Up game, but with any game I've played. The attacks are  solid  and the combos are easy to perform, its definitely a game you can pick up and play. Running, jumping, and attacking are smooth and  operate well. Y uses a strong attack, X uses a quick attack. Holding down the right trigger makes you use magic, which uses the same  controls. RT+Y uses a magic attack that hits multiple people in front of you does damage, RT+B uses an attack that has infinite range and  does more damage, but can only hit one person. Jumping is done by pressing a, you can cycle through items with RB, and B uses the  item you have selected.

The combat is easy to do and incredibly fun. You choose from over 50 weapons, each with varying abilities, a bow and arrow, and magic,  to  fight your enemies. As you level up, you get a real sense of change, as each level makes you noticeably stronger in what you choose to  specialize in. You gain more and more combos as you level up that allow you to do more damag... Read the rest of this Review
Two Worlds II

Two Worlds, Two reviews
The original "Two Worlds" is not on this site. So, I'm combining this review of "Two Worlds 2" With "Two worlds". The scores up top are for Two Worlds II, as that's the game on this site. To start off this double review, "Two Worlds 2"

Two Worlds II
Who... in their right mind thought to make a sequel to something like Two Worlds. I actually didn't notice Two Worlds II until quite recently when I was at a video game store. I literally laughed out loud in the middle of the store. So I spent my money, just so I could review it. I figured if they were to try to make a game again, then they must think its good. Did they do it any better this time? Find out here.

Gameplay: It improved from the first game, but that's like saying a slug is WAY faster than a rock, either way, it doesn't mean much.

The controls aren't great. I think they were trying to emulate MMORPG's with this game, but MMORPG's have keyboards, there  are plenty of buttons to use, the XBOX360 does not have many buttons. The controls for walking and running are very hard to  describe. Its hard to move to a precise location, because the controls are very loose. Watch gameplay and you might get what I'm  trying to say. Since the XBOX360 has a small amount of buttons compared to MMORPG's, so things like sneak and sprint are  used on the same button.....  however hard that may sound, trust me, its harder. Also, things like the map that should be on  select or start are on the main buttons, which is kind of pointless. This game requires a lot of buttons to use, and they also waste  them.

Combat isn't much better. This game is still a mind-numbing button masher like the first game was. To even be able to fight, you  have to unsheathe your sword, which is completely pointless. Your character performs incredibly strange moves with his sword,  which no human being would use in a sword fight.

Super Mario Galaxy

*pun about reviews and space*
Something horrible happened today. My super Mario galaxy disk, after being dropped, clawed by a cat, and accidentally left out by my relatives, finally succumbed to its wounds and gave its final breath. I say this because this game did something that few games can do. I had so much fun playing it, that it literally meant a lot to me. This game is the best Mario game I have played, and it is even one of the best games I have ever played. This game took stride with games like "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" in that it was a revolution for the series, and the fans LOVED it. This game is one of few, and I mean few, games that have ever surpassed Ocarina of Time in ratings. This game is just that good. Super Mario Galaxy was released in 2007 by (you guessed it) Nintendo and has had fantastic ratings among critics, some went as far as to call it one of the best games of all time.

Game play: The best part of this game by far. The mechanics of the Mario series are taken to a whole new level in this game. This game makes use of "Sphere-walking" which is used in games like twilight princess in the goron mines. "Sphere-walking" is basically walking around a sphere and staying on it through some sort of game mechanic. Mario has many more power-ups than in the other games. Power-ups like the fire flower, the mushroom,  the one up mushroom, and the star are here, but new power-ups like the freeze flower, the bee and ghost mushroom, and a spring have appeared.

Mario uses gravity to his advantage as he travels all over large and small planets. The player will use the will nunchuck's joystick to move around, and he will use the wii mote to move a cursor around and collect star bits. By using the B button the player can fire a star bit at an enemy or at a luna, Mario will use star bits to get lunas to transform throughout the game. The player can use the wii mote's D-Pad to move the camera around Mario. As in nearly every single Mario game to ever exist,... Read the rest of this Review

Mother 3 (english translation)

walkthrough to mother 3
Yeah, its been a while. But here is part 2. I am adding some refinements from part one, so this will be a bit different. Lets pick up where we left off.

(by the way, I have recently found out about a secret weapon, when you leave flints house, you can find a stick near the doghouse that you can equip)

When we left off in March, we had just left the hot spring in the forest. As we continue on, we will encounter enemies called Mr battys.

An average Mr batty is about level 10. Batty's have very high offense but very low defense. When we have the abilities, it is smart to lower its attack power, though they don't do much damage as is.

Flint has no PSI to speak of, so we are unable to exploit any of its weaknesses. You can find an item box near the hot spring that contains the aeries bracelet. Be sure to equip it!

Be sure not to touch the fire (You don't say?) around the forest, as it takes hp away. If you get too critical, you can stop by the hot spring that we just left. As you continue up you can find several baked yommosters, they will not attack you by choice, so if you would like to trigger a battle with them you have to run into them. The have a very high percentage of dropping nut bread. You will then run into lighter, who is having a pretty bad day.

Lighter's son fuel is still in a burning house and lighter is too injured to rescue him. You are then attacked by fire flies. Fire flies are easily taken care of with Flint's swing attack. They mainly use a fire attack that deal 5-9 damage, occasionally they will charge at you, dealing 10-20 damage, though this... Read the rest of this Guide

walkthrough to mother 3
Hey guys, this is ender here(though that's not my real name) and you are reading my walkthrough to mother 3. This game is an RPG where you will be fighting various enemies and bosses to get to the end. To start off I will be explaining a few of the controls to you.

A: this is your action button. It is used to interact with various characters and objects, as well as being used to control your fights.

B: When outside of battle, this button is used to run. You hold down the button for about one second and then you are off. When in battle, this button can be used to cancel actions.

Start: This is your control menu. It is used to check your inventory, equip items, use special abilities, check the status of your characters, and put the game in sleep mode.

Select: This button will being up the health and status of each character.

R: This will show your map, although if you are following this walkthrough, you wont much need it.

Space bar(exclusive to vizzed) If you are playing this on vizzed, than you can use this button to speed up game play.

First you start off by naming each of the starting characters in the game. If you select "don't care" for each one then you will come up with the names "Lucas", "Claus", "Flint", "Hinawa" , and "Boney' And I will refer to the characters by these names. Now, you will start the game with an introduction to the landscape. It will show off the place known as nowhere islands and will introduce you to this game known as mother 3. Then the camera will zoom to the room of a little boy and the main character of this game, Lucas. You can walk around your room for a while, though that is fruitless. To progress through the story you should walk downstairs. If you try to walk out the door, your mother Hinawa will tell you to change out of your pajamas. This scenario probably being a joke about the prequel to this game which is called earthbound, as the same event happened at ... Read the rest of this Guide
