Mother 3, the unsung hero of RPGs
Mother 3 was an amazing game in nearly all of its aspects, save the head ache of Fassad's healing, and proved that, even though the best games tend to be ruined through sequels ("We'll all meet again in Spaceballs Two: the Search For More Money"), an acceptable sequel could stay within the same range within the original, not overshadowing or turning completely awful. RPGs happen to be able to carry on a story easier than other genres, considering their power comes from the story, Earthbound was an incredibly closed game, and, let's face it: seeing the Earthbound gang reunite to fight the unoriginal enemy of the week sounds cool at first, but the more it's thought about, the worse it gets. So, they made a good move when they decided, for the second time in the series, to forget the previous characters, with the exception of theories surrounding the Gigue-Giygas relation and the creation of Porky's empire. and meet an entire new cast, but this is merely how they made the game, and it already sounds pretty good, right?
Music is another important part of the Mother series (the first two being about "melodies") and Mother 3 did this right. Admittedly, Earthbound will still beat out both its predecessor and its successor, but it's not uncommon to see a certain final boss's theme on a top X list.
The graphics were pretty good, as far as RPGs go, not much complaint, the surrealism of the game does impress someone compared to the sprite of a blob with a face (yes, I'm talking to you Pokémon). Of course, someone who expects to see the best graphics ever from a RPG will be disappointed.
The game play was incredibly similar to Earthbound, which is what one would accept, but come on, nothing new? Other than changed physic abilities and more specialties pertaining to certain characters, there wasn't much difference between this and its predecessor. Also, as I'm not someone who likes to go "Data Divin... Read the rest of this Review

A game without end
This game is amazing. Earthbound (or Mother 2) is a master piece of its
time. It has all RPG and the special level action of Final Fantasy and
its own brand of enemies, and game play. It has a great story line and
unique music. Unlike other characters from different games Earthbound's
characters have more emotions rather then being living plot points. It
isn't extremely difficult but it's not an easy task. This game captures
the strange yet fantastic wonders of the older games.  The only
complaint I have ever had about this game is its graphics which
sometimes, are messed up. In result, this game is one of the best I have
ever played (and that's saying a lot coming from a big time gamer like
me).
