Super Metroid

Metro baby!!
Overall 10-
Super Metroid is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo. It was initially released on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) in 1994, but has since then been re-released on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. It is the third game in the Metroid franchise, and the plot picks up where the last game in the series, Metroid II: Return of Samus, left off.Like most games of the series, Super Metroid is an 2D action-adventure game with platforming elements. Players take the role of a female bounty hunter known as Samus Aran as she explores the deadly planet Zebes and collect an arsenal of weapons and gadgets, which will in turn let her progress into areas that were previously inaccessible.Super Metroid was one of the largest and most graphically-impressive games for the console at the time of its release. Even today, the game is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time.Super Metroid is also famous for the unintentional ability to "sequence break" the game. This means that although there is roughly a set path for Samus to follow, skilled players are capable of reaching ledges or getting past barriers before they have discovered the power up that is ordinarily required to get there. For example, by mastering a maneuver known as the 'mockball' players can get the super missiles very early in the game, when they enter Brinstar for the first time. This curious mechanic has many people struggling to see who can find the fastest path to take to complete the game, making Super Metroid one of the first games surrounded by the 'speedrun' phenomenon.

Graphics 9-
Super Metroid looks exactly how a 2D platformer should look like without a 3D engine. Visually it may not blow you away in this day and age, but carefully looking at the detail put into the setting, background, characters, etc, and you’ll see that they put a lot of effort into this game. The graphics in Super Metroid are about as pr... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man 4

Mega Man 4!!
Overall 9.8-
The fourth installment in the Mega Man series was another GREAT game and added new tricks and surprises while keeping the flavor of the first three MM games. This game is probably the "unsung" game in the Mega Man series. Many people talk about how great the games MM2 and MM3 were(which is TRUE) but they overlook what was yet another fantastic addition to the Mega Man series. The cybernetic suitcase, Fliptop makes his first appearance in this game. He meets you in certain stages and gives you an item such as a 1up or an energy tank. Also, Mega Man now has the Mega Buster which charges up when you hold the B button. A BIG plus indeed.

Graphics 9-
Like its predecessors, Mega Man 4 features EXCELLENT graphics with plenty of color, detail, and animation. Also, the graphics and platforms is Mega Man 4 are BIG which makes Mega Man feel "small" unlike previous MM games. The animation is VERY smooth. The Pharoah Man stage features nice animations with the quicksand and the stars while the Toad Man stage features rain that downpours more as Mega Man progresses. Hey, who said being a hero was easy? All in all, the graphics of Mega Man 4 are as good as or even better than the first three MM games.

Sound 9-
The soundtrack of here is good with some VERY catchy songs. Dr.Cossack's castle contains two excellent themes that fit the stages perfectly! Every stage has great music in MM4. The feel is there too. The Dive Man stage has a lively beat while the Dust Man stage music is nice and soft. The themes are different than the first three Mega Man games which is cool. EVERY Mega Man game has music unlike the other MM games which is a BIG plus. I mean that no music in MM4 sounds the least bit reminiscent of another MM game. Overall, Mega Man 4 has excellent music.

Story 9-
This time around, Dr. Wily isn't the man behind the overthrow of the world; or at least, not at the beginning. Now a new scientist named Dr. Cossack has manuf... Read the rest of this Review
Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past

Must Play Game!!
Overall 10-
If there was any series that people had really big expectations for after the release of the Super Nintendo, it was The Legend of Zelda. Super Mario World was the largest Mario game to date with much upgraded visuals. Unlike Mario, which was a linear experience, the open-world nature of Zelda had people salivating at the potential experiences that could happen. Nintendo did not disappoint and with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, offered one of the best action-RPG experiences on the system.
A Link to the Past is a game the defies normal convention. Those who hate RPG games can still enjoy it because it isn’t of the you-hit-me-then-I-hit-you variety. The action is intense. It also spits in the eye of Nintendo games being cute, cuddly, and adorable to the point of inducing vomiting. This Zelda game can have some downright ugly creatures. The story is fantastic and more engaging than some Hollywood films. The game is near-perfect.

Graphics 9-
The graphics look really good. In fact, outside some of the later games on the system like Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World: Yoshi’s Island, this is one of the best looking games on the system. The world of Hyrule looks gorgeous with everything looking as detailed as possible (or at least as much as possible for a 16-bit console). Even the little things have incredible detail like shadows in the Lost Forest and the moving eyes on the enchanted trees. It makes it feel like Hyrule is a living, breathing world.

Sound 9-
The sound is also amazing. The classic Zelda tune sounds incredible. At times, it’s easy to forget that it’s a bunch of midi sounds coming from the grey box and not a full symphony. Most of the music of this game is timeless. There are a couple of sound effects that feel like there wasn’t much effort put in towards their development; like the sound of a soldier that has been alerted by Link’s presence. Some of the effec... Read the rest of this Review
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time

Legend of The Great
Over All 9.9- What a game I remember playing this game when I was little when the N64 first came out. This game is what made me really get into the Zelda world

Graphics 9.0-
Being the first 3D Zelda game, a new engine was used for both this game and eventually Major's Mask.Because this engine is based on polygonal graphics, they would require a significant amount of memory in the cartridge, and generating the graphics with simultaneity and consistency would imply the sacrifice of other aspects, such as music or textures. To solve this difficulty, some techniques were used so that the game wouldn't have any problems in this regard: When Link is facing to the right, the game only loads the memory of what is in that direction, be it enemies, characters or simply the space of the territory placed there. This means that there is literally nothing currently loaded on the sides not being witnessed by the camera angle.

Sound 10-
Despite being a 3D game, there is almost no voice acting from the characters, with some slight exceptions (Nevi says some words, mostly when she's calling Link); a few characters scream, such as Ganondorf and Sheik, or laugh, such as Sari and Malone.Like most Zelda games, Ocarina of Time has its music composed by Koji Kind.Surprisingly, the main theme of the Zelda series is absent in this game, as the overworld tune for this game is new. The game also uses interactive music: Normally, a background theme correspondent to where Link is can be heard; when an enemy is close to him, however, a particular combat theme can be heard, and won't stop until the enemy is defeated. In a similar way, the aforementioned overworld theme changes (not only in presence of an enemy, but also when Link is standing on a place). Koji Kind composed the Ocarina melodies with only five tones of the first three musical notes.

Story 10-
Ocarina of Time is the first title in the series to show Hyrule in three dimensions. The sacre... Read the rest of this Review
