Kid Icarus Uprising There's a reason this is my favorite game of all time.
Super Castlevania IV The Angry Video Game Nerd did not take us back to the past to play s***ty games that suck ass. He took us back to the past to play an awesome game that rocks!
Ninja Gaiden @Invalid Rage: ROFL, I know, right?
Super Castlevania IV Nevermind, I fixed it.
Super Castlevania IV *insert several days of not playing* And now I find out that it won't load up.
Star Fox Hey, wasn't that first boss in Star Fox 64?
Metroid 2 Great hack. Much better than the original.
Castlevania - Chorus of Mysteries This seems to be a remake of the original Castlevania.
Castlevania A trick on Dracula: Attack him a split second after he withdraws his cape to attack. If your timing is perfect, then he shouldn't hit you.
Castlevania Ugh! FINALLY, I'm done with the nightmare that is Death.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Five-Minute Reviews -- Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Copy-and-pasting his way onto the 3DS, we have the glorious Kirby: Triple Deluxe. I say copy and pasting, because this game reuses a lot of elements from past games. I mean not only do we have the exact same artstyle from Return to Dreamland, but several boss fights are also recycled with a few changes made to them. But this is really just a minor nitpick that may or may not even matter. But now, onto the reasons why Triple Deluxe is a good game.
First, we have the presentation. There's nothing really to fault here. The game looks really nice, using a lot of vibrant colors and some impressive 3D visuals that really make it stand out. Think what would happen if you took Return to Dreamland, turned up the brightness a little, and then stuck it on a handheld. The music is also really great, using a wide variety of instruments while still maintaining that charming Kirby-ish feel. It's beautiful.
Like the presentation, the gameplay is flawless as well. While it is fairly standard, the new features introduced take full advantage of the capabilities of the 3DS, like having you switch between the background and the foreground, as well as using features like the gyroscope for solving puzzles.?But we all know what really makes a Kirby game, right? The Copy Abilities. There's your standard stuff like your Fire, Ice, Sword, Spark, and what have you, but this game also added five new Copy Abilities to Kirby's arsenal: Beetle, which for some reason reminds me of Heracross every time I use it; Bell, the closest thing we'll ever get to a good sound-based ability; Archer, which is deadly at long-range, but not very effective close up; and Circus, a very awkward ability that attacks using stuff like balance balls and juggling pins. And then there is the pure epicness that is the Hypernova Ability. This ability amplifies Kirby's sucking powers a hundredfold, allowing him to move heavy objects, and suck up huge enemies and obstacles. All of these abilities, except for Circus, ... Mario & Luigi: Bowser\'s Inside Story

Five-Minute Reviews -- Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
When people think about the best Mario game on the DS, a lot of people think New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64 DS, or Mario Kart DS. But for me, the greatest Mario game on the DS is none other than Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. This game is just plain awesome, but let's cut the fanboying for a minute and get on to my justification.

I guess the reason why I like the Mario & Luigi series is that each of them has something that makes each of them different in terms of gameplay, and Bowser's Inside Story has you being able to take control of the King of the Koopas himself, Bowser. Funny enough, the title of the game is very fitting, as despite this being a Mario & Luigi game, this really is Bowser's story. You'll end up playing as Bowser for a majority of the game, him differing from the Mario Bros. in having ridiculous attack and defense stats, at the cost of a really low speed stat and only having one attack per turn, and being able to use his fire breath and huge strength in the overworld to allow exploration. Of course, on top of that, you have the role of the Mario Bros. who explore the insides of Bowser's body, augmenting his abilities from the inside, and helping Bowser in their mutual goal of stopping the old, yet new threat to the Mushroom Kingdom. You might not know who he is, but if you don't know, you'd be STUPID (just kidding), because he's the master of fury *ahem* pardon me... master of CHORTLES: Lord Fawful. The fan-favorite sidekick to the sorcerer Cackletta takes to the stage in his main villainous role that practically no one has ever been able to forget. So many awesome moments of pure villainy and great comedy that I love so much.

In terms of the presentation, there's really nothing to fault. The pixel art is spectacularly well done, having a great amount of detail, and a very well designed and fleshed out artstyle. Everything is really well-designed and has plenty of charm, energy, and life to k... Read the rest of this Review
Mega Man 3

Mega Man 3 (NES): Will Someone Get this Guy Out of Here?
SavatoX: Mega Man 3. Tied with Mega Man 2 for being considered the best game in the series. Is it as good as people say? Let's find out--

X2: HELLO, EVERYBODY! I'm BACK!

SavatoX: X2? I thought I killed you off back in an earlier review!

X2: Nope! Through a convenient plot twist that SO does not involve a certain mad scientist, I have been granted the power of invincibility! Also, killing me sends you back to the beginning of the level.

SavatoX: Whatever. What do you want?

X2: You're reviewing Mega Man 3, my favorite Mega Man game! And you didn't invite me!?

SavatoX: X2, you were SO ANNOYING last time we did a review together. Now get out of my room!

X2: Nope! I'm here to stay!

SavatoX: *facepalm*

SAVATOX AND X2 PRESENT:
MEGA MAN 3 (NES)

SavatoX: The graphics and sound are among the best on the system, as with every Mega Man game. That's to be expected from a game like this.

X2: There is a grand total of ONE song that I didn't care for: Hard Man's theme. Making this my favorite soundtrack in the NES library.

SavatoX: However, we do have to knock down the graphics a few points for one reason: SPRITE FLICKER. Granted, it's not as bad as in Mega Man 2, but it doesn't look good regardless of how rare or common it is.

X2: Gameplay-wise, it's the same as the first two games, except with two neat additions: Rush and sliding. Rush just might be the best thing that's ever happened to Mega Man. And not just because I love dogs.

SavatoX: What Rush does is he can be used as a trampoline, a submarine, or a jet. I personally prefer the Rush Jet form you get from beating Needle Man.

X2: The slide move also offers many opportunities for unique level and boss design, see Needle Man's stage and the Top Man's boss fight.

SavatoX: Speaking of the Robot Masters, they are AWESOME! They are WAY better than the ones from Mega Man 2.

Battletoads
10-25-12 04:10 PM
Battletoads: A Two-Player Game that is NOT a Two-Player Game.
SavatoX : Okay, X2, ready to play a game?

X2: Hey, how come you get a cool name, and I'm just "X2"?

SavatoX : Shut up! It's MY review. So anyway, Battletoads on NES. Now--

X2: You know what? Forget it. Let's not beat around the bush here. Today, we will review one of the, if not THE hardest games in video game history, Battletoads.

SavatoX : At first glance, this may seem like that game that's riding on Ninja Turtles's success, but it's actually really good.

X2: This game is huge, it's addicting... and it's hard. Hard hard hard hard hard HARD.

SavatoX : So we're about to do the impossible, and play an impossible game.

Story

SavatoX : Uh...

X2: I think I better just copy and paste the box description here, rather than trying to explain it myself.

SavatoX : Hey, that's my job!

"The Dark Queen has attacked and kidnapped (toadnapped?) your best buddy. To make matters worse, she nabbed the best looking girl around! So, what will you do? Cry? Whimper? Hide? Call the Starcops? NO! Cause you're a Battletoad! Battletoads don't cry, hide or call for help! And they certainly don't whimper! They get MAD then they get EVEN! So grab your blaster, hop on the Toadster and go get 'em!"

Both: Ooooooookay.

Gameplay

X2: There's really no shortage of gameplay options here. We could sit here for hours trying to list them all.

SavatoX : So basically, if you wanna know that badly, you have to play it yourself. This is probably the only game I have ever played that's less fun with two players, than with only one.

X2: Hey! What is that supposed to mean?

SavatoX : You'll understand in a little bit.

Graphics and Sound

SavatoX : Both of these get a perfect ten. Unlike a lot of games on the NES (I'm looking at you, Silver Surfer), every level has its own unique track. Even pausing the game gives you a pret... Read the rest of this Review
Super Castlevania IV

Super Castlevania IV -- Hard, But Very Rewarding
Castlevania on NES. It was a great game. And it goes to prove, that just because a game is hard, that doesn't mean it's bad. But then came its unholy successor, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Consisting of a bunch of riddles that you have a snowball's chance in a fire of solving, constant grinding for hearts, outrageous platforming, three ultra-easy bosses, and a castle with nothing in it. The only upside to that waste of plastic was the music. Then came the real Castlevania II, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. This game was full of innovative features like character swapping, and being able to choose your own path that made it better than the first game without alienating the series at all. This marked the end of a remarkable trilogy of games. But believe it or not, we weren't done with these games. No, there was yet another game in the series, now on Super Nintendo. And it wasn't just "Castlevania IV", no, it was SUPER Castlevania IV, and well deserving of that name.

Why am I telling you stuff that you already know? I have no idea. Probably just to build up suspense, I guess. *sigh* Let's just start the game already.

Story

There really isn't much to say about the story. It's exactly the same for most of the series. Dracula has been resurrected, and Simon has to stop him. However, this category does gain some amount of points for having an awesome cutscene at the beginning. But still, this stays at a six, for lack of originality. This would be a little more understandable if this were NES, but this is SUPER NES! This is 16-bit we're talking about!

Gameplay

For me, gameplay always trumps story. These are video GAMES. If I can't enjoy PLAYING them, then they have failed their purpose. Well, that's what stage 5 of the first game was: Irritatingly difficult, and not fun to play. Don't get me wrong, the first game was good, but it had no idea when enough was enough. Gameplay was greatly improved with this game. You were... Read the rest of this Review
