Earthbound
11-15-15 08:03 PM
It's yet another Earthbound Review.

Hmm, it's a sunday night, and I don't have anything to do. Well, I guess I'll do a review of one of the last games I completed: Earthbound. Now, by "last game I completed" I mean I completed Earthbound in like July/August. But anyway, heres a bit of a prologue:

Now, I've always wanted to play Earthbound and like complete it because pretty much EVERYONE GOES ABSOLUTELY NUTS OVER THIS GAME. Seriously, Earthbound Fans can be rabid when you even bring up their games. So, with everyone pressuring me into playing it, I tried to play it. The first time I played it, I got up to the first time you enter Threed, and then I just stopped. I tried to get far, but sadly I only got like maybe less than a quarter of the way. Skipping ahead a few years to this year, I was getting slightly good as Ness in Smash 4, so of course I wanted to get his amiibo. I actually made a pact to play Earthbound if I ever get my hands on him, and given that April for Amiibos was a disaster, I didn't get to this point until the July Restocks and I just so happen to find a Ness while looking for Bayonetta 2. Then, I looked for a guide (because you kinda need one) such as the one on starmen.net, and with my Ness Amiibo in tow, with it pointing at me at all times like, "you better complete my game", I was ready to play Earthbound completely. So, is it as good as people say it is?

GRAPHICS - 9: Earthbound is a pretty good looking game, with a vast color pallet and because of it's quirky nature with the battle backgrounds, it scores pretty high here. The graphics, after all these years, don't feel dated so it can be easy to get in to if you are playing it even 24 or so years later.

SOUND - 10: Oh man, Earthbound has a kickin' soundtrack. it can be ambient or exciting and it usually does well in both categories. Some of my favorite tracks being Summers, Dr. Andonuts' Lab, Smiles and Tears (not the version in Smash though, that one sucks) and Fourside.

Pokemon X (and Y) Review #2526
First of all, thank you for reading this review and Happy Valentines Day (or Singles Awareness Day) to you! And as my Valentine's Day (or Singles Awareness Day) gift to you all, I'm going to review Pokemon X (and technically Y)! Actually, I was going to review this earlier, but I had quite a lot of things to do (like play Kingdom Hearts, Link Between Worlds, and Ocarina of Time 3D, wait for Pokemon Bank, and complain why Knuckles looks like he's on steroids [UNLIKE SONIC I DON'T CHUCKLE I'D RATHER FLEX MY MUSCLES]. Obviously my priorities are in the wrong places.) Pokemon X and Y were, as you all know, extremely hyped because they are the beginning of Gen VI and are the first in Pokemon games in 3-D (on a Handheld; Pokemon Colosseum was the first 3D Pokemon game)! They were also sorta hated because they were on a new system, the 3DS, which is definitely one of the biggest hurdles in playing it. Being the beginning of a new Generation of Pokemon games, they have quite the shoes to fill. Do Pokemon X and Y succeed in filling the shoes of it's predecessors, Pokemon Black and White and Black 2 and White 2?

Graphics: 8
Compared to other games on the 3DS, it's nice to look at, but compared to Gen V, it looks gorgeous. The colors are vibrant and full of life. And, because it has to do with the graphics, Pokemon X, for the first time in a Pokemon game (I think), also has LAG. The game usually lags in either horde battles (you fight 5 low leveled pokemon where you have a higher chance to encounter shinies, as well as a possiblity to have their hidden abilities), a certain camera angle in trainer battles, sometimes in Lumoise City, and whenever the game has the 3D switch turned on. It isn't too bad, as Pokemon is a turn based RPG, and you can really just ignore it.

Sound-10!:
Now, if you saw my SAtS review, I rated its soundtrack a 10 as well. I don't think Pokemon X and Y's soundtrack is as good as SAtS, but for a Pokemon soundtra... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Frosty

pokemon frosty review
If you play Pokémon, you should know that masterballs catch any wild Pokémon without fail, rare candies gives free levels, and are quite hard to find/get. Well, Pokémon frosty just says "1 DOLLAR MASTERBALLS AND RARE CANDIES!!!1!!".Sounds like an awesome game. Well, this game can't be TOO bad right?

GRAPHICS- the graphics are the same as Pokémon ruby, but the players sprite is a little messed up. If you play as a girl, the player is a blonde and randomly switches between having brown and blonde hair(I guess she can't make up her mind), and if you play as a boy, he has grey hair other than white, and when you run, he has a burnt backside. When you surf or ride the acro bike(either gender), you turn into a negative version of your character, and when you ride the mach bike, you have a bike helmet(about time for safety).

SOUND-The same cries and music from ruby, has normal clarity for the GBA.

ADDICTIVE?-  Yes,or a while maybe, you might get bored after a while having unlimited rare candies and masterballs, and having a team of lvl100 Pokémon. But, you'll most likely stay around and think of strategies for the other games, well, for gym leaders and the elite four(I'll get to that later).

STORY- Ah, the story. Its still the same story for ruby(be the greatest Pokémon master), but, we add to it a little. We start the game moving to littleroot town on a boat(as a boy, truck as a girl), and a team aqua member(who profanely says how heavy the T.V is)  and a moving truck that sounds like a machoke(boy story again, girl story just machokes) gets the stuff placed. You fix the clock and check your stuff, and when you come downstairs, your mom shows you "THE MANY ASSASSINATIONS OF BARNEY". Sounds like a good show. You walk outside, and Aqua Leader Archie who says if you go without Pokémon, they will violate you unless you throw a red ball at it, and if you leave, he tells you to g... Pokemon Gold

Pokemon Gold, My perspective
Pokémon Gold is one of the first Pokémon games I have played(other than crystal, which I borrowed from my brother) and is one of the best games on the Game boy color that I have played.

Graphics
For a Game boy color, you can't really expect too much in this department, compared to games today. The text is clear on what it is trying to convey, you can tell which Pokémon you are looking at, or what color he/she is. The graphics are just "average" for a game boy color.

Sound
The sounds of the games can be split to 2 sides: the Pokémon's cries or roars and the music. The Cries can be heard as the Pokémon comes out of the poke ball in battle, and is a little distorted, and is just a little weird to listen to. On the other hand, the music is neat to listen to, and gives a sort of feel the town or route your at.

Addictiveness
The game is always supporting you to get all 251 Pokémon in the game, to train all your Pokémon to get ready for that gym battle The Elite 4, or going against your rival. Sometimes you will be waiting or hurrying along so you could be done before the sun came up or set to evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon, or to catch Pokémon that only appear at night or morning, either way, the game always grabs your attention in many ways.

Story
Pokémon game don't have very original plots or stories, just be the greatest Pokémon master.

Depth
The length of the game is quite longer than the games preceding it, having 2 regions to beat. Its not a game to really rush through, because you might have to train your pokemon to level up, or to catch rare or useful pokemon that would have a type advantage for the next battle you might have.

Difficulty
The game can be difficult, but its never almost impossible to know where you need to go(just ask the town folk!), and some gym battles can be quite hard for the part of the game it's in, but a ... Read the rest of this Review
