Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout
04-16-16 10:57 PM
Now, why does this game have a rating of 8 again?
Introduction
While many Dragon Ball games were looking forward to cash in on the popularity of the anime/manga at the time (with little to no success), Dragon Ball GT is the most notorious of them all. Very little is known about its history of development, but it had a localization for the European and U.S. versions. Apparently the localization ended up even worse than the original itself. Common complaints include laggy controls, massive lag input, and a lot more. Why? This review will explain the truth behind all this.

Graphics
Well, since 3D graphics were a new thing at the time of the PS1, and was rarely used with the exception of some games including Battle Arena Toshinden, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot (Which all done it perfectly except the fourth installment of Toshinden), it was expected that Final Bout, due to its rushed quality, has very awkward graphics. Because of this, i'm rating this part 4 out of 10, which is comparable to the graphics of Battle Arena Toshinden 4 (Subaru in Japan), as in that it was awkward 3D graphics, but nice anime artwork.

Sound
Basically, the music sounds as swell as the anime sounds. My most favorite music track of all is "The Biggest Fight", which is the Japanese only music for the intro. Unfortunately, that got removed in the European and U.S. localizations, being replaced with generic rock. Also, while the voice actors and seiyuu choices were very good, I disliked it for being compressed into the game. Because of this, i'm rating this part a 8 out of 10, which is comparable to the Mega Man X4 and Mega Man 8 sounds, while it has a awesome anime intro theme which got replaced by generic style music, it has irritating voice acting (at least in the English version).

Addictiveness
*Sigh* Do i really need to explain this part? 1 out of 10, comparable to every bad game in the planet.

How to screw up difficulty for a game A.K.A. Mega Man X6 Review
Oh. My. Freaking God. While I have seen some hard Mega Man/Rockman games, this one perhaps stands out as one of the hardest Mega Man/Rockman games ever. Hope you're ready, because this one will cause me to rant at some point.

Introduction: After Keiji Inafune managed to finish X5, he wanted it to be the final game in the series and move on to develop the Mega Man/Rockman Zero series. However, according to him, "And so I’d always planned to make Zero come back to life in the Mega Man Zero series, but then X6 comes out sooner from another division and Zero comes back to life in that, and I’m like, 'What’s this!? Now my story for Zero doesn’t make sense! Zero’s been brought back to life two times!" This, of course, was a massive understatement. Because of the strict development schedule (barely even a year!), it had some massive things that annoyed players. In spite of the mixed reception, X6 managed to sell 106k units by the end of 2001.

Graphics: I do have to admit, the 2D graphics of the ps1's time was good, but some character graphics don't match up well (e.g. Blaze Heatnix, Infinity Mijinion), though the stage design corresponds very well to the bosses. Also, the 3d CGI graphics also return (Nightmare Snake anyone?), and like X5, clashes with the art style. The intro animation and cutscene pictures also look very well designed. I give this part a 7 out of 10 (Nightmare Snake).

Sounds:I do have to admit, the Japanese voice acting sounds very good, although some of them are ruined by the constant yelling (e.g. X's yelling when damaged, Infinity Mijinion's babbling). Also, the sound effects are also very good. Also, the music sounds very good like its predecessor, and did you know that they actually kept the J-Pop soundtracks for the American version instead of replacing them with generic American rock? Even with that, they still sound very... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Snakewood

Pokemon Snake- OH GOD!
Some romhacks are weird. Some are terrible. Some are artistic and improve on the original design. But others take a darker route, but this one took it up to eleven. When I actually tried to play it, I almost suffered a literal heart attack! So is this the kind of zombie apocalypse scenario we wanted to see?

Graphics: Pretty good, for some editing of certain Pokemon to look like Fakemon and that they fit in with the zombie apocalyptic design of the game. Though some look a bit weird, they're fine to me, and they still fit well for GBA graphics. Also, it retains some graphics from the original game, like the Pokemon Center from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen.

Sound: Most Pokemon music and sound are retained from the orignal games, but are otherwise still good. The fact that some Fakemon borrow some sounds from the one that they were based off didn't help.

Addictiveness: NOT FOR ME AT ALL SINCE IT GAVE ME A WHOLE BUNCH OF NIGHTMARES. For the rest of you, it depends on whether you like it or not. I'm not trying it out again.

Story: Well executed for a zombie apocalypse. In spite of having many cliches, it somehow lampshades how dull they are at times (and even lampshades the pop-culture references at times), making it seem a bit interesting

Depth: After all, you gotta catch em all, right? Yep, you're also catching ZOMBIES too. Does this remind you of a certain mobile game by the way?

Difficulty: It gets hard at first, but as you get more powerful by grinding for levels, it gets mostly easier (and thankfully in a good way).

Final Rating: 7.2 (Nightmare Fuel- Honest Game Trailers reference BTW) While the plot and the story is mostly cliched, the constant lampshading at those help maintain its good reputation. While it's not excellent, at least it isn't terrible. If you're nightmare resistant, then you should play this romhack.
Mega Man 2

Mega Man 2 Review
Ah, Mega Man 2. At the time, Capcom thought this would flop hard, and only allowed Keiji Inafune as a side project. However, when the sales took off and positive reviews all around, this is what put Mega Man on the memory of many gamers. This review looks at how Mega Man 2 cause a phenomenon around the world, and see if it lives up to its reputation as Keiji Inafune's magnum opus.

Graphics: Very good (at least for its time). It has colorful graphics that fit neatly with the stage, along with the bosses themselves (though the Alien looks a bit off).

Sound: VERY GOOD. I could listen to it all day in my iPhone or my mp3 player. I'm even willing to buy the soundtrack of the game.

Addictiveness: Good. While it's mostly about defeating all the Robot Masters and Dr. Wily himself, if you're willing to maintain a run without taking damage, then you should be quite addicted to this, because some of the stages and bosses are hard to defeat (especially Air Man, you can't beat him even with the time barrage glitch. Good luck!), or if you're insane enough, beating the game WITHOUT the special weapons (except the Bubble Lead, which is the only way to damage the alien).

Story: It's just about Mega Man fighting against Dr. Wily, along with his new Robot Masters after he once again caused chaos. Plain simple.

Depth: It's not much, but if you're willing to go through the entire game undamaged (Good luck trying to beat Air Man during your run!) and not wanting to use special weapons the entire run (Except the time where you're forced to use the Bubble Lead on the Alien, because it's the only one that can damage him), then it's going to take a while.

Difficulty: Quite a bit hard, I must say, but more harder when you're attempting to go through the entire game unscathed (especially on Air Man's stage) and without using special weapons.

Final Rating: 8.7 (Air Man). It's surprising held up very well today, though ... Read the rest of this Review
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Akuma Zensho

Review For Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Akuma Zensho
So, while I was looking at the Retro Game Room in the Sega Saturn section, I found something that caught my attention: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Akuma Zensho. Apparently, due to me finding Japanese language incomprehensible, I became a bit confused to what it meant, but that didn't stop me from playing it. As it turns out, however, it's actually a gallery for all the demons in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner. As I thought about it, I realized something: Was this game even sold? Then this caused me to review this game. This will tell all about Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Akuma Zensho, and how I think about it.

Graphics: Even though it's a gallery for all the demons, it's quite well done in detailing the visually.

Sound: Though it has only a few tracks, it's slightly enjoyable. Where's the soundtrack for this?

Addictiveness: None. There's only a few amount of replayable content such as viewing info of demons, checking their alignment, and that's mostly all.

Story: There is none, because it's a gallery for all the demons encountered in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner.

Depth: Nothing big to offer, aside from some info from the demons.

Difficulty: None. If you have trouble with this, then there's something wrong with you, aside from some menu problems.

Final Rating: 6.6. It's just a simple gallery to view and nothing else. Aside from providing a backstory, there's nothing else to view aside from these. And no, it doesn't come with the game. But if it was, please tell me.
