My quest continues to obtaining physical copies of games in the Retro Game Room. I have a lot already but still a ton to go. Systems you could donate games for include Super Nintendo, Nintendo NES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Playstation, Dreamcast, etc. You can basically donate anything to me, even more modern games including DS, Xbox 360, GameCube, Playstation Vita, etc. Any modern game most likely will be resold and the profit put toward the site and future RGR Plugin updates, any retro game donated will go into my personal collection which will help me maintain the legality of the site (duplicates will be resold though). I'll even accept game systems but I'll only accept game accessories that have value or don't take up a lot of space.

As promised, the Dreamcast games in the Retro Game Room will cost 0 Viz and be accessible to everyone for the rest of the month (which is about 3 1/2 days). The games that you play during this time will not be added to your profile and you will have to pay Viz for them later if you want to play them again.

Keep in mind though that the Dreamcast games can currently only be played with a controller so be sure to plug one in before starting up the games. If you're having troubles downloading a DC game (example, it stops or gets really slow), try it again later or simply try another game. Starting next month, Dreamcast games will require the Beta Test Ticket again which costs 10,000 Viz and can be purchased from the Item Shop. The games will also be back to their normal price which can range anywhere between 250 - 750 Viz so be sure to take advantage of this offer in the final days of "Dreamcast Month".

Special Offer! If you take at least 100 unique screenshots of Dreamcast games between now and the 1st of next month, I'll send you 20,000 Viz which is enough for the Beta Test Ticket and enough to play plenty of Dreamcast games! This is a great opportunity to be able to continue playing games after this month if you're low on Viz. Those 100 screenshots can be in just 1 game or spread among many games, just as long as each screenshot is unique from your other screenshots and unique from the screenshots already submitted to the Dreamcast games. The latest version of Google Chrome has disabled NPAPI plugins by default which means the RGR Plugin no longer works in Google Chrome unless you enable NPAPI plugins. If you want to learn how to continue using the RGR Plugin with Google Chrome, go here:

Dreamcast Sudden Popularity
The Dreamcast has gained extra popularity over the past few months, plus Vizzed recently got Dreamcast games added to Vizzed so I figured this was a great opportunity to dedicate an entire month to recognizing the Dreamcast and its games. One of the smaller things I plan to do as a way to give the Dreamcast added recognition is to make the game of the week every week this month a Dreamcast game. I also have ideas for other things so be sure to read below.

Right now we only have less than 50 Dreamcast games available on the site but I plan to add 100+ Dreamcast games to the site each week this month which means we'll have a complete Dreamcast library before the month ends which will put us 600+ DC games! Dreamcast Games Do Not Require the Beta Test ticket this month
For this month only, or at least until all DC games have been thoroughly tested, the Dreamcast games will not require the Beta Test Ticket. The games will require the Beta Test Ticket once the month is over but in a few months none of the DC games will require the ticket since I hope to have every DC game tested within a few months. The reason the DC games currently require the Beta Test Ticket is because there are going to be games that don't work and games that have problem so to avoid many users complaining about games that don't work, this is the best solution to that problem. Be warned though that some games might not work that are available to play so keep that in mind before you spend 100s of Viz on a Dreamcast game.

The Nintendo NES 2015 Winter Netplay Tournament which started 2 1/2 months ago is coming to an end Thursday night with the final 2 contestants, Foxyman1113 and Davideo7 (myself), facing off in a bunch of NES games. The matchup could last anywhere between 30 minutes to 2+ hours.

This tournament started with 64 users with a double elimination format. Selectable games include: Balloon Fight, Clu Clu Land, Dig Dug, Dig Dug II - Trouble in Paradise, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Donkey Kong 3, Dr. Mario, Galaga, Marble Madness, Mario Bros, Pac-Man (Tengen), Pinball, Tetris (tengen), Q-Bert and Wario's Woods.

Basically we'll be facing off in sets of 2 games until someone wins both games of a set. We both get to pick 1 game each for every set. We cannot pick the same game twice until every game has been played once. Since I'm in the winner's bracket, I have the advantage of having to lose twice in order to lose the tournament. Basically I'm in the winner's bracket and foxy is in the loser's bracket so technically if I lose the first matchup, I get knocked into the loser's bracket where we face off again.

In this tournament we'll be playing Bomberman '94 for the Turbo Grafx. Each user will play 2 matchups a week. You get to choose which day and time you want to play each week from a list of available times and days. Each matchup could be any of the following:
-1-5 Player Free for All
-2 Players vs 2 Players
-1 Player vs 1 Player
-Other possible combinations


This tournament offers the biggest grand prize of any netplay tournament I've ever hosted so be sure to sign up for a shot at $200, you have nothing to lose! This is also now considered an annual tournament; here are the final results from last year: 1st. Davideo7, 2nd. madison, 3rd. AceShock, 4th. Koda, 5th. Forest Dragon.


In each matchup the players will play until someone has won 5 games so a single matchup can take between 15-30 minutes. 1st place will get 7 points, 2nd place 5 points, 3rd place 3 points, 4th place 2 points and 5th place 1 point. Failure to show up to a matchup automatically results into 0 points.


Every week (except the first week) the 2 users (or more, depending on how many enter) with the lowest amount of points will be eliminated from the tournament. If there's a tie, both users will be eliminated.


For each matchup, the level you play and the time you play will be predetermined. All matches will take place at either 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30 or 9:00 PM central time on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. If you are eliminated from the tournament for failing to show up to your matchups, you'll be placed on the tournament ban list which means you wont be able to participate in a netplay tournament until next year and you'll also be fined 10,000 Viz.


Requirements:
-You must be available 2 nights a week between 7 PM - 9 PM central time Tuesday-Friday nights

I've reduced the Viz prices of most of the RGR games and some of the RGR games have reduced by a lot. All of the small sized games have taken a price drop, the medium sized games are around the same (some may have gone up) and the large sized games have taken a huge price drop. For those who don't know, the games in the RGR cost Viz to help me avoid high bandwidth costs but I think I might be able to get away with dropping the prices of these games without any problems.

In return, I've added an ad to the play window while the game is loading. All of the revenue made from this will go to tRIUNE since he does a lot for the site. He currently already shares the site's revenue with me but I wanted to help him out by increasing the amount he gets since he invests way more time on the site than anyone else has over the past few years (excluding me of course). I'll eventually add an item to the item shop which will allow you to disable this ad if you find it annoying but it shouldn't interfere with anything.

One of the main purposes of the Retro Game Room has always been to introduce users to games that they've never experienced. So many of these retro games deserve recognition and if the prices are too high, most users will never be able to experience some of these great games. By dropping the prices the really large games, I'm hoping it encourages users to stick around the site longer by enjoying more games.
