There have been a lot of updates to the Video Game Music feature since it was added earlier this month (as you can see here) and now I have it ready for staff to help out with adding music which hopefully means lots of music and a big variety of it will be added sooner rather than later. If you're currently a staff member and would like to help out, please refer to my latest thread titled 'Music Adding' in the site staff forum.

I'm also finished with adding SNES music (for now anyway, only thing left is obscure Japan exclusive SNES games) which means I'll be placing my focus on a new system soon but for the time being, I'll be adding soundtracks that I either really like, that are popular or that users request.



New Video Game Music Features
-The music pages have been optimized even more for mobile devices
-Various adjustments to CP and Viz payout for rating songs
-Lots of other little things here and there not worth mentioning individually

VGM Index Page Related:
-Various adjustments to the trending area toward the bottom
-Added a 'Latest Games' section to the trending area
-I added a 'What's Being Listened to Right Now' toward the bottom of the page which shows what users are listening to (only displays when users are listening to music)
-Drop down menu for each system that has song which lets you view and select any game that has music available and takes you straight to the soundtrack of that game
-Drop down menu that shows all user created playlists

-Now display a song's bitrate

Playlist Related:
-Ability to Delete Your Playlists
-Ability to Delete Songs from Your Playlists
-Ability to choose default order of songs in your playlists
-Playlists now show accurate information (such as total duration and song count)
-Ability to see what songs you've rated (click the 'Your Rated Songs' link in 'Your Playlists')

More features will be added in the near future which will include the ability to comment on songs and playlists, more search functionality, ability to individually order songs in your playlist and more.

Video Game Song Request

The Winter Netplay tournament on Vizzed has had the same format ever since it began 2 years ago but for the first time we're doing a system that isn't the Nintendo NES; we're finally doing the Super NES.

Here's how it works. Everyone starts out in the "winners" bracket and if you lose, you go on to the "losers" bracket and if you lose in the losers bracket, you're out of the tournament. At the very end, the winner of the winners bracket and the winner of the losers bracket play each other but the winner of the losers bracket has to beat the winner of the winners bracket twice (this makes it fair to the user who went undefeated for going undefeated).

Since this is a double elimination tournament, there is no way for me to know how long it'll last since the amount of people who sign up determines how long it'll last but if I were to take a guess, I'd say around 6 weeks. I will allow any number of users to join but we will need an even number. Bye weeks may be handed out to users who do very well if needed in order to balance out the structuring of the brackets.


We'll be playing various multiplayer games for the Super Nintendo. In each weekly matchup, you'll be able to pick which games you want to play against your weekly opponent. Some of those games include Super Mario Kart, Street Fighter II, Ms. Pac-Man, Super Bomberman 5, NBA Jam, Micro Machines 2, and more. The goal is to have 1 or 2 games from each of the major genres and each game should only take between 5-15 minutes (so games like Monopoly are out of the question). Requirements:
-You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users)
-SNES Netplay must work fine for you

The netplay lobby and the chat rooms are back up. Due to the server migration I did recently (which you can read about here), it resulted into the chat room having to start over again and me having to set it up again.

It needs a lot of configuring and it also needs staff to be assigned as mods. Globals and Admins should PM me the password they'd like to use so that I can set them up their accounts.

The Minecraft server has been working with the IP Vizzed.co for the past few days now but I figured I'd mention it for those who didn't know it was back up and running.

The site has only received $40 worth of donations over the past 30 days and that's the small donation amount in a 30 day period the site has ever received in the past 3+ years. Without donations, the site has no ability to expand in ways that I'd like and that also leaves me with no budget to get RGR Plugin updates.

Thanks to everyone's donations from a few months ago, we were able to get Google Chrome support added to the RGR Plugin in version 2.40. Thanks to tom760's willingness to do some work for me for free on the plugin, we were able to get Windows XP support added in version 2.41. Even if you can only donate $10, every little bit helps out and if enough users donate small amounts, it adds up.

More Systems to support Video Recording
Most of the game systems on vizzed allow you to press a single button and record your gameplay but not every system support it. N64, Sega CD and a few others don't currently support it.

Ability to have 2 plugin instances at the same time
This would allow you to have 2 instances of the RGR Plugin open at the same time. Now it would require a fast computer to have 2 instances open at the same time but this would basically allow you and another user to see eachother's games. You'd be playing in your game in your instance and you'd be able to see their game in their instance. This would be great for if you want to play through a single player game with someone else, show someone how to do something or race each other to see who can beat the game the fastest in real time.

Add DOS Games
This would allow us to add those old PC games known as DOS games. So basically most PC games released between 1981 and 1995 (and some between 1995-2000) would be capable of being added to the site.

Upgraded Plugin Architecture for External System Loading
This Plugin architecture upgrade would allow the plugin to load systems on demand. This would allow the plugin to be only 1 MB and basically each time you play a system for the first time, that systems files would download when you go to play that game. The huge benefit to this would be that it'd allow us to update systems without having to need another plugin upgrade since it'd simply re-download the system when it gets updated.

This is a surprise feature I've been working on for the past few weeks that I've only told a few users about and it's already mostly finished! Vizzed finally has video game music!

For the time being there's only Super Nintendo songs but I do plan to continue adding more systems over the course of a few months and I may even open up a staff application asking for users to help out.

If you want to view a soundtrack for a single game, every game that has a soundtrack available will have a link to the soundtrack from its game page in both the RGR and VGR.

Here are some features that I've added so far:
-Ability to rate songs (earn 50 Viz & 0.5 CP per a song)
-Ability to create playlists (250-500 Viz & 2.5 CP - 5 when rated)
-Ability to rate playlists (earn 100 Viz & 1 CP)
-Plenty of stats
-Lots of search and filter features
-Ability to playlist page look from 'Edit Page' link (this is in beta so be careful)
-Player itself has lots of features like shuffle, loop, search within, etc
-The feature works great on mobile devices like tablets and cell phones

Features I plan to add in the near future:
-More searching and navigation features
-Ability to delete playlists and songs from playlists
-Ability to see what songs you rated
-Ability to comment on songs
-Playlist editing features including:
--Ability to manually sort the songs

Earn up to 50,000 Viz
I need as many good songs rated as possible so that users can find highly rated songs making it easier to find great songs. I'm willing to pay out lots of Viz to users who rate songs that they like. You can either go through random songs seeing what you like, look up songs that you know you like or do research on the internet to find highly rated songs and then find those songs in this feature and rate them. However you go about this, DO NOT RATE RANDOM SONGS without knowing what they sound like. The last thing I want is for users to go through and mess up the rating system by just picking random songs and giving them a random rating. Only songs that you rate a 4 or 5 will count. I will be looking through the songs you all rate to make sure you didn't pick random songs!

Here's how much Viz I'll give you guys based on how many songs you rate:
+25 Songs = 5,000 Viz
+50 Songs = 15,000 Viz
+100 Songs = 50,000 Viz

Once you've rated enough songs to qualify you for Viz, be sure to let me know in the below thread and I'll send you the Viz. Keep in mind that you'll also be automatically earning CP and Viz when you rate these songs so you'll be getting my bonus Viz on top of the regular Viz.

Happy 11 Year Anniversary & 2015 Vizzed Awards
As of Today, 12-06-15, the current Vizzed Board is 11 years old!

This has been a big year on Vizzed. We got RGR Plugin updates for the first time in a few years which added Dreamcast support, MAME netplay support, TAS features and more. Most of the RGR games had a huge Viz price drop, especially the larger CD games. I did a complete overhaul of the entire site and began migrating many portions of the site to the new code (still working on that). I added some new forums to the site for the first time in many years which includes an Information forum and a News and Current Events forum with 4 more forums planned to be added within the next 1-2 weeks. I began expanding the site with a Video Game Music feature which I'm just announcing for the first time here (about half way finished). Lots of other features took place over the past year which you can read about in the News and Updates forum.
