Here's how this works

Respond to this thread with up to 2 users you think would do a great job. The more users you choose, the less weight your votes have. So if you feel really strongly about someone, then vote for just 1 user.

Here's what determines the weight of your vote

The weight of a vote depends on the user and how many votes that user makes. Users who have a high rank, been around for a long time, and have a high post count, will have a vote with more weight. This is fair because those users should have a bigger impact on the results since they're more familiar with the community and have a higher reputation compared to someone who just registered with the single purpose of altering the results.

Here's the formula for figuring out the weight of your vote:
User Level * Power Level

And if you have multiple votes, it'd look like this:
(User Level * Power Level) / Vote Count

The User Levels can be viewed from their profile and also next to their posts to the left. A User Level is based on how long a user has been here and how many posts they have.

Here's the numbers that represent each Power Level:
0 = Newbie
1 = Normal
2 = Trusted
3 = Elite
4 = Site Staff
5 = Local Mod
6 = Global Mod

The final matchup of the Spring Bomberman Tournament has been scheduled along with the special "Beat Davideo7 and Foxyman1113" event that takes place soon afterward!

Both events will take place on June 23rd, Tuesday, from 2 PM - 6 PM central time. Read below for more information.

Defeat Davideo7 and Foxyman1113 & Win US $500 Worth of Digital or Steam Games! Event starts at around 4:00 PM central time on Tuesday, 6/23/2020
As soon as the Bomberman Netplay Tournament ends, there will be a special Bomberman event that'll take place right afterward (just like the last few years). You'll form a team with anyone and take us on in a 2 vs 2 match and if you can beat us, you and your teammate get to share the $500 worth of Digital or Steam games! (or 500,000 Viz if you want that instead). Basically you'll be given 50 Raffle Tickets which you can use to redeem here (also click that to see the list of games that you can get which includes more than just Steam games).

2020 Spring Bomberman Tournament = Final Matchup at 2:00 PM Central Time on Tuesday, 6/23/2020
The final matchup of the Bomberman '94 Tournament ends on June 23rd with the final matchup taking place at 2:00 PM central time. The tournament started at the beginning of April and began with 16 of some of the best Bomberman players. It is now down to 5 players; here are those players and their overall rank (which will determine their player order):

Here's how the final matchup will work. At the end of each round, the user (or users if there is a tie for last) with the lowest trophy count will be eliminated. New Responsive Layout

I've been spending the past few weeks making the site more adaptive so that everyone has the same site experience and features no matter what device they're on. Instead of spending a bunch of time trying to explain how responsive the new layout is, I've made a video to demonstrate it

Things added or updated in the past 3 weeks:
-Site adapts to almost every screen size
-Users on mobile devices now have access to far more content now
-The size of the generated HTML of the pages is a little smaller, allowing for quicker page loads
-Site users less Javascript, which helps reduce the amount of strain the site can put on your browser
-Site can be shrunk down to a width of 250 pixels
-Messages Center takes up less space
-Site reserves more space for showing who is on a page and the users with less posts take up less space
-Vizzed GO box takes up a lot less space now
-Rearranged some ads
-Enhanced the appearances of various elements on the site and with the way some things are displayed

Things fixed:
-Some old post layouts have been fixed
-Added a ? icon to the header links which allows you to access links that would sometimes get cut off due to lack of space
-Information and Navigation Columns no longer exceed the vertical height of browsers that aren't very tall (they receive scroll bars instead of being cut off)
-Navigation Column also received scroll bar if there are too many links and the links exceed the height of the Navigation Column (especially good for staff, who have access to a lot of links)
-Fixed an issue with the HTML5 RetroArch emulator where the game fails to load on the first attempt
-Some posts couldn't be editted, this issue is fixed
-For posts that have been edited, the previous post box didn't display what the previous post's contents looked like, this is fixed

What sparked this series of updates was when I realized my ad revenue wasn't as high as it could be. Ad Manager told me that the ads for mobile devices were low because of the way the site displayed its content to mobile devices. Basically mobile devices were viewing a different site layout, but now that's not the case. I also noticed that Google was in some situations indexing the mobile pages instead of the desktop pages.

To sum things up, this series of updates should help increase site's revenue, traffic, and everyone's overall user experience.

For the first time ever, I'm offer a custom username style to the winner of this Tournament. And for those who don't know, Foxyman1113 dethroned me last year so I can be beat. I'm also offering up cash prizes again like last year.

This could potentially be the last Bomberman Tournament that I host due to the potential discontinuation of the RGR Plugin at the end of the year so I'm hoping we can get as many users involved in this. Maybe not for the purpose of winning but for the purpose of having a reason to hang out and chat.

In this tournament we'll be playing Bomberman '94 for the Turbo Grafx. Each user will play 2 matchups a week. You get to choose which day and time you want to play each week from a list of available times and days. Each matchup could be any of the following:
-1-5 Player Free for All
-2 Players vs 2 Players
-1 Player vs 1 Player
-Other possible combinations

This tournament is incredibly flexible to everyone's schedule. Each week you can choose between the selectable times and days that you're available to play. As long as you're available 2 nights a week between 4 PM - 9 PM central time Tuesday-Friday nights then you'll be able to participate. You can even miss a few matchups and still have a shot at making it to the final matchup (but just don't miss too many otherwise you'll be added to the netplay ban list).

I'm now finished recovering data that was lost from the accidental database drop that took place at the beginning of this month. Not all of the data was recoverable but a lot of it was. All site features should be functioning properly again.

Many of you are stuck indoors during this Coronavirus Pandemic. Why not use this opportunity to tell your friends about Vizzed? And if you do, respond to the below thread after they've signed up and you'll both be given access to all PlayStation games in the Retro Game Room.

Vizzed has nearly 2500 PlayStation Games, which is almost every game ever made, and it includes all retail games, region exclusives, all demo discs, and more. Best of all, the PlayStation games support Netplay (when using the RGR Plugin) which means that you can play PlayStation games, and all other RGR Plugin games, online together!

You can recommend multiple friends and each of those friends will also be given access to the PlayStation games. To qualify though, the registrations need to be done with separate IPs and those accounts need to be created by your actual friend. Only accounts created after March 20th count (obviously). You'll also need to offer proof that the user you say you referred is your friend by either having them refer to you on the registration page (or you could give them your referral link, which automates that) or they'll also need to respond to the below thread.

RGR and VGR Game Content Restored

I'm finished with restoring game content that users submitted to the site in the past 4 months. This includes Game Pages, Game Edits, Game Edit Requests, Screenshots and Screenshot Edits. Screenshot Ratings have not been restored yet.

Any Game Edit on a game that was for a game added to the site after November 6th, 2019, was not recoverable due to not being able to matchup game IDs. Likewise, all screenshot edits made to a screenshot that was added to the site after November 6th, 2019, was also not recoverable. So if you added a screenshot to the site after November 6th, 2019, the screenshot was most likely re-added but it'll need to be re-edited. Most browsers save the details that you insert into a form field so you should be able to double click the input fields and see a drop down with the details that you added previously.

I'll work on restoring the Marketplace, Screenshot Ratings, and various other features tomorrow. My kids are home from school for a while due to the Corona Virus so that has slowed down my development this week, placing me behind the schedule I laid out.
