New Video Game Room + Staff Application
The new 'Video Game Room' has launched, which is eventually going to have pages for every video game and all the information and graphics you'll ever need for any game (currently it only has Dreamcast, Playstation, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii). Keep in mind that these games are not playable, this new section of the site will be similar to ign, gamefaqs, or mobygames. More information can be found here:

Tour de Vizzed: Spring 2012 = Let the games begin
The Tour de Vizzed is back. For those who don't know, the Tour de Vizzed is a posting competition, similar to the VCS.
The winner of each Jersey each day gets to wear that Jersey the following day. The overall winner of each Jersey at the end of the month gets to wear that Jersey the entire following month. Server Transfer Complete
The server transfer is completely finished. Save files, screenshots, graphics, site files, etc... everything has been transferred to the new server. The site should also be faster than it was before.

Server Transfer Update
The transfer isn't quite complete, some screenshots still need to be transferred. The old backed up RGR Plugin save files also still need to be transferred. Everything else is transferred though, the games should all work and the RGR Plugin games should work now. File uploading should work now as well and screenshot submissions and highscore submissions should also work.

Server Transfer just about complete
The server transfer is very close to completion, just a few things left to transfer and a few things left to update on the new server. Posting works again. File uploading is still down but it should be back up soon. Maintenance will be completely finished within 12 hours. |

Server Transfer Update
The server transfer is going along great so far. The database will be migrated soon so any content submitted to the site during this time will be lost. Because of this, New Posts and New Threads will be down during this time. The Games will continue to work. |

Server Transfer in Progress for up to 24-48 hours
The server transfer from Godaddy to Hostgator is in progress and will probably last up to 24-48 hours. File uploading and screenshot taking will be down during this entire time. In less than 12 hours posting will also be down. The RGR games will most likely be up during the entire time since the RGR plugin save files are stored on your local machine and the java game save files are stored on a different server. The site might be extra slow during this time as well.
I'll make a separate announcement within 12 hours with a progress update. Thanks. |

Save File Recovery & Additional N64 Plugins
Save File Recovery
After the recent RGR Plugin update, we made it so save files are stored on your computer rather than on the server (to reduce server strain, disk space and bandwidth). For those who may have lost a save file recently because of that or for another reason, you can still recover your old save files. Here's how: 1. Go to the save file manager page: https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/savefiles.php 2. Find the save files you want to recover and right click the link to download it. 3. On your computer, go to Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder. 4. You'll want to place your downloaded save file into the folder that the RGR Plugin loads the save files from; here's where to place them for each system: N64 using 1964: 1964 > Save NES & FDS: FCEUX > sav GBA & GBC & GB: VBA > Saves Genesis & 32X: Gens > Saves SNES: ZSNES > Saves TG & AL & NGP & NGPC & WS & WSC & SGFX: Mednafen > sav 5. Make sure to keep the original save file name, don't rename it. If there's a save file already in there with the same name, you'll have to replace but make sure that the save file you're replacing it with is your most recent save file. Additional N64 Plugins You can now choose which video plugin to play your N64 games with. Some games play better depending on which N64 emulator it's being played in (1964 or Mupen64Plus) or depending on which video plugin you play it with. Different computers and video cards also makes a difference so in some cases, you'll want to play around with it. To play a certain game with a different video plugin, go to play an N64 game using one of the N64 emulators. On the play window, at the very top right you'll see links, clicking them will reload the game using the selected video plugin. Eventually I'll have the RGR staff go through and figure out which game plays best with which n64 emulator and video plugin. 1000s of Screenshots and other Graphics lost
What graphics were lost?
Every single file that was uploaded to the server between 03-03-12 01:41 PM and 03-14-12 05:23 PM (central time) have been deleted, I'm very sorry. So any screenshot taken or highscore taken within this time no longer exists on the server. Is it possible to recover them? Sorta. The computer you used to take these screenshots would have them stored on your computer and you could send them to us and we can work on adding them back so here's how you'd go about this: 1. Go to Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder 2. Go to the folder with your user id in it; so if your user id was 1, you'd click the 'User-1' folder 3. From here, you can find the screenshots in these directories: N64 with 1964: 1964 > Screens NES & FDS: FCEUX > snaps GBA & GB & GBC: VBA > Screenshots 32X & Genesis: Gens > Screenshots SNES: ZSNES > Screenshots TG & NGP & NGPC & WS & WSC & SGFX: Mednafen > snaps 4. Take all of the screenshots that you took between the date I specified above and place it into a folder, if you're giving me both regular screenshots and highscore screenshots, be sure to organize it so that your regular screenshots are in 1 folder and your highscore screenshots are in another 5. You'll want to rename all your screenshots to match the exact name of the game in the within the retro game room followed by an underscore and an incremented number. So for example, if you have 3 screenshots of Super Mario World, your 3 screenshots would be: 'Super Mario World_1', 'Super Mario World_2', 'Super Mario World_3'. Also, in the screenshot names, you'll want to remove all special characters; example: a screenshot of "Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask" would be: "Legend of Zelda The Majoras Mask_1". 6. Zip up that folder and send it to me at davideo7@hotmail.com or you can upload it somewhere and than PM me a link to it or you can reply to this thread with a link to the zipped up screenshots 7. Once I receive your screenshots, I'll try to get them added within 24 hours. Once I do, I'll let you know and you'll re-add them to the page using the screenshot submission page just like you normally would with screenshots you just took with the RGR Plugin. Why did this happen? Well I contacted To make things worst, I have their managed backup plan which means they're suppose to do backups of my server every single day but turns out they hadn't done a backup in about 10 days! So basically I'm paying for an extra service that they're not even doing and they didn't even bother telling me that they weren't making any backups so I put all my trust in them and they fail me big time. What does this mean for vizzed? Well, I'm leaving Godaddy once and for all. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them for the past few years that I've used them (ok maybe I've had 2 good experiences but probably 100+ bad ones). I'm working on purchasing some dedicated servers with hostgator, unfortunately it's going to cost twice as much as godaddy which means I'll be paying nearly $2000 a month on server fees compared to the $1000 I'm paying right now (that was one of the reasons I stayed with godaddy, they're by far the cheapest on the internet and I couldn't afford anyone else). This means there will be downtime probably on Monday and/or Tuesday, that's probably when I'll do the server migration to hostgator. It's possible it might happen sooner but I'd hate to do a transfer during the weekend when the site gets the most traffic. Stay far away from Godaddy, their tech support is just lazy and don't care and cast all the blame on you to cover up their laziness and lack of knowledge. New RGR Plugin = New Game Systems & Bug Fixes
Vizzed RGR Plugin version 1.63 is available!
Download RGR Plugin v1.63 Now Instructions -You should uninstall the previous plugin before installing this one, to do so, go to the Start Menu, All Programs, Vizzed Retro Game Room, and Uninstall. -Be sure to close your internet browser before installing this new Plugin. -If the plugin tells you you're missing VC++ Runtime, you'll need to install that first. You can download it here: http://www.vizzed.co/vcredist_x86/vcredist_x86.exe If you have any problems with the new plugins, please report it in this thread: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=37053 We'll try to help you fix as many problems as we can, if there are a lot of problems we can't walk you through, we'll work on getting another plugin release soon which would fix those problems. In a few days, I'll create a page where you can download your save files from the server and save them to your computer where your local save files are located. This will solve the problem that some might have of losing their save files. Notes Your save files no longer store on the server, when you go to save and load a game, it happens on your computer, all saving is local. This was done for security reasons and also because the saving uploading and download was putting too much strain on the server (notice the site is a lot faster now?). The bad thing is, if you switch computers, you wont be able to load your save files from computer to computer unless you manually transfer your save files. The good thing is, besides the security and site improvement, your save files are less likely to get corrupted or lost. The location of your save files and cached files on your machine are in a new location, you can find those here: Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Data Plugin Folder New game Systems Atari Lynx Neo Geo Pocket Neo Geo Pocket Color Wonderswan Wonderswan Color SuperGrafx Newly supported Systems These game systems were already playable on the site using Java emulators, they're not also playable with the plugin: Sega Game Gear Sega Master System Turbo Grafx N64 has a 2nd emulator Nintendo 64 now can be played in 2 different emulators from within the plugin. The emulator that they were played in before was 1964 but now they can be played in 1964 and Mupen64Plus. Some N64 games that didn't work or didn't play good in the RGR Plugin before may work better in the Mupen64Plus emulator, in fact most games probably play better in that emulator compared to the 1964 emulator. Any save files you created in the N64 games before this plugin update only load in the 1964 emulator. Also, Mupen64Plus supports save states and for some people, 1964 support save states as well now. Sometime within the next few weeks, we plan to increase the compatibility with the games that load into Mupen64Plus even better which means after we do that, 99% of the N64 games will work and most of them perfectly (the best part is, this update in a few weeks wont require another plugin update). A note regarding Mupen64Plus, it doesn't let you adjust your keyboard or controller controls, you have to use the default. The default keyboard controls are currently unknown so you'll have to play around until we make an update for that (which should take place in a few days). What else is new? A lot of the problems that existed in the previous plugins should no longer exist. This new plugin should have a lot less problems and run better. Also since your save files are now based on your user id, someone else can use their user account on the same machine as you and their save files wont overwrite yours (that was a problem in the previous plugins). This means that the risk of losing your save files decreases. A few updates to the Retro Game Room I also did a few updates to the Retro Game Room itself. The header area with the systems has been redesigned to fit in the new systems (and famicom disks system has also been added, that was never in the header even though it was an available system in the last plugin). The Retro Game Room also has a 'new' icon next to games and systems that have been added in the past 30 days. There were other various updates to the RGR and plenty more to come in the upcoming weeks. Want to become an RGR Staff member? Go through and take screenshots of as many of the new games as you can, if you take enough good ones, we'll hire you to the staff within a day. Vizzed is back up
Vizzed was down because the OS on the server somehow got corrupt. Here's what Godaddy told me:
"It appears the OS has become corrupt on the server and we were unable to repair it with a File System Check. The old drives are being pulled so we can reprovision the server and restore your content. The issue is being handled with the highest priority. However, depending on the amount of content that needs to be restored, it may be 24 hours before all sites will be back up and functional" Anyways, the site is up now and should be running fine.
