Once a week on every Thursday for this entire month, I plan to create a competition dealing with the Vizzed Minecraft server and in each of those competitions, money and Viz will be up for grabs. Here's this week's competition.

Create Pixel Art in the Open World (pixel art on any of the islands doesn't count). Your "Art" can be either a single sprite graphic or multiple sprites graphics joined together. Once this competition ends, staff will vote on which structure they think is the best. You can see an example of my submission in the submission thread. To enter, simply take a screenshot of your completed pixel art and submit it to this thread. Be sure to give your submission a title. You can either upload the screenshot to the Photo Album and than embed it to your post or you can upload the screenshot with your post, screenshots posted any other way don't count (they have to be hosted on vizzed). It's recommended that you place a claim around your pixel art. If you don't make a claim around your art, you'll be unable to remove blocks if you make a mistake and other users will be able to make a claim on your pixel art and potentially destroy it. To take a screenshot in Minecraft, all you have to do is press F2. If you want to take the screenshot without the menus, press F1 to remove the menus. If you want to change your perspective, press F5. For more information on Minecraft screenshots and for where to find them, go here:

If you already made some pixel art but not in the Open World, I can move it for you so that it qualifies. To get to the Open World, you can either take the subway station to it (which can be found underneath the Vizzed Ville Town Square) or you can walk there but heading to the really long island next to Vizzed Ville and taking the path that leads down into the water tunnel. There's a shop in the open world which has 16 colors of wool and clay which can be used to make the art.

Here are the prizes:
1st: US $25 or 37,500 Viz / MViz
2nd: 20,000 Viz / MViz
3rd: 10,000 Viz / MViz

I can pay you by either PayPal or by buying something online for you. If your structure was built by more than 1 user, than the earnings will be split.

EDIT: Remaking this announcement since I provided the wrong link to the Official Minecraft server thread with the last one.

The Vizzed Minecraft Server is ready for anyone who has a copy of PC Minecraft to join:

For now, the point of this server is to work together and populate 3 towns. You buy lots with MViz (you can convert your Viz to MViz; more info in the above URL). The first time you play on this server, you'll start out in Vizzed Ville. That is the main town but most of the lots are taken. If you turn around, that bridge leads to Iggy Land which has a lot of cheap lots. Than there's a 3rd island with Geeogree's town but the lots there are expensive and reserved for rich Vizzed users.

I've also got 2 contests going on where you can earn Viz and Cash.

The Vizzed Minecraft server has been delayed but it will be ready in an hour. IgorBird122 is still finishing up stuff in his town and I'm working on typing up the thread with all the details regarding the server.

Also, since there's an in game currency which for the time being I'll be called MineViz (MV for short), I'll allow you guys to buy your in game currency now so that when the server is ready for launch, you have money to spend. Everyone starts out with $100 in the game and here's how much lots cost:
Small Lot = 500 MV (max 2 per user)
Medium Lot = 1000 MV (max 2 per user)
Large Lot = 2500 MV (max 1 per user)
Each lot will come with a chest full of items.

Items cost money too. For example, a bundle of 64 Stone Blocks will cost $9 and additional items can be purchased in either the Vizzed Mall or in IgorBird122's shop. IgorBird122's shop, which is in his town, has more items (until I can finish the Vizzed Mall) so if you want a wider variety of items, go to his town to buy from him.

1 MV = 1 Viz so however much MV you want, send IgorBird122 that amount of Viz. Be sure to tell him your Minecraft username!

Vizzed Minecraft Server Launching Friday at around 7 PM CST

The Vizzed Minecraft server that many of you have been waiting for will be launched on Friday, April 17th, at around 7 PM central time. The launch may be an hour early or an hour late, so the launch may be anywhere between 6 PM - 8 PM since we're still finalizing things with that server.

The server will basically involve everyone working together to build 'Vizzed Ville' in Minecraft. Users will be able to purchase lots and building materials using Viz. Anyone can join in once it's launched, all you need is a copy of the PC version of Minecraft. If you don't have a copy, you can purchase one online or in stores (like Walmart or Target) for only $26.95.

I'll be making a separate announcement and thread once it's ready to launch with full details regarding the rules and purpose of the server. I'll also be live streaming it on my Twitch Channel so anyone who doesn't have a way to join us can still somewhat experience it.

My quest continues to obtaining physical copies of games for the Retro Game Room. I have a lot already but still a ton to go. Systems you could donate games for include Super Nintendo, Nintendo, any of the Game Boys, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Playstation, Nintendo DS, etc (basically anything).

Here's a few examples of items that you might want to earn Viz for:
15,000 Viz = Game Accelerator - Makes games download faster (for most people)
25,000 Viz = V-Machine item - Allows you to play any game without paying Viz (doesn't include cd games)
50,000 Viz = Playstation item - Allows you to play 400+ different Playstation games

Any game that is donated that I already own (or isn't retro) will be sold and all the money made from sold games will go toward expanding Vizzed. It costs a lot of money to keep this site up and I know a lot of users want to help out but don't have money to donate so this is a great opportunity, especially since a lot of you probably have games lying around that you don't plan to play anymore and may even need to make room for new games.

Respond to the following thread with a list of games you're willing to donate and I'll tell you how much Viz I'd give you for the games and I'll PM you the address to send the games to. The following thread also has more information on this offer.

Vizzed has just exceeded 1,000,000 posts! As a way to celebrate, I've made it so that posts are worth twice as much Viz for 1 week (until April 12th)! This also includes Threads, Reviews, Walkthroughs and Articles.

So how big of an accomplishment is 1 Million? Well we pulled it off in just under 10 years (the overall post count began on 12-06-04). The site was averaging around 100-200 posts per a day when this current Vizzed Board launched, now days it averages 400-500 posts a day. Now it may seem like the site's post count hasn't gone up very much since its launch but the 100-200 posts a day only lasted for the first few months of the site, after that the average was around 100 and it just kept dropping. At one point the site was averaging around 5 posts a day back in 2006 and there were even times when the site went more than 1 day without a single post. Things started picking up again in 2008 with 25-100 becoming the average and things really took off in 2009 when the Retro Game Room was added to the site.

A few fun facts:
-It took around 21,880 users to pull that off
-The 1 million posts on the site contain 56,871,406 words
-The average user post count is 45 (excluding non-posters)
-The average post size is 56 words
-The site has averaged 293 posts per a day since its launch
-The site has 75,625 threads which means the average thread has 13 replies
-The thread with the most replies is Corrupt-A-Wish! with 9,110 replies
-The biggest (non-copied) post with the most words is in The Children of Destiny thread with 30,507 words
-The thread with the most total likes is Tour de Vizzed: Winter 2014 = EideticMemory wins! with 83
-The thread with the most total dislikes is I've Decided to Auction This Forum with 23
-The post with the most likes is this one with 39 likes
-The post with the most dislikes is this one with 13 dislikes

Just like I did in the 1 Billion view count thread, I need to thank the staff (and the past staff too) for helping me keep this site under control and to help me keep the forum civilized. I'd also like to thank all the users who have posted and have helped make 1 Million posts possible. Not a lot of forums live long enough to ever reach 1 million posts so I'm pretty proud that Vizzed Board has been able to stick around long enough to pull it off.

1 Billion views was a huge accomplishment but I think 1 Million posts is an even bigger accomplishment because 1 Billion views can be done without a community but 1 Million posts can only be done with the help of an awesome and loyal community. Both Milestones are amazing though and we've been spoiled to witness both so close together. It's unfortunate that it'll be a very long time before we hit another huge significant milestone and even more unfortunate that a lot of the current active users wont be around for those milestones. This is not a time to think about that though, this is a time for party! A round of Vizzed Soda on me!

This affects those who record and upload videos to Vizzed with the RGR Plugin. Between now and October of 2014, the maximum length of videos is currently 15 minutes. If your video exceeds 15 minutes, you'll either want to upload it to your personal YouTube account or break the video into 15 minute parts.

Nintendo and Vizzed have been working together quietly for a while now and we've finally come to an agreement. The decision has been made that Nintendo will be purchasing the Vizzed name, company and domain. The game titled 'Vizzed Flash Bash' that Sega has been developing for Nintendo with Vizzed will continue development.

I've got some updates regarding the Bomberman '94 Netplay Tournament.

I've extended the sign up deadline by a week! The tournament will now begin on Monday, April 7th.

I've also made the scheduling more flexible and removed Monday and replaced it with Friday. Users will be able to pick which days they want to play their matchup. This means that all you have to do is be available during 2 out of the 4 days that the matchups take place in order to participate. So if you're available during at least 2 of the following times and days, than you may enter:

Tuesday: 7 PM - 8 PM (central time)
Wednesday: 7 PM - 8 PM (central time)
Thursday: 7 PM - 8 PM (central time)
Friday: 7 PM - 8 PM (central time)

2014 Pokemon Osmium Grand Championship = Earn 100,000+ Viz

Two months ago, the successful Pokemon Osmium: The Game thread came to an end, but now it’s time for season 2 of the popular series in the form of the Pokemon Osmium Grand Championship. This time around, the game is much bigger, and so are the prizes.

Sign ups for the competition will last until April 4th 9PM server time and the competition will begin April 5th at Noon. Signing up is free for now, and you are all encouraged to participate in order to claim the top prize of at least 100,000 Viz. What’s unique about this competition, is that the total prize pool will increase based on how much activity the game creates. If dozens of users sign up and actively participate, the total prize pool could easily hit 200,000 viz, and could even go as high as 500,000. Remember, the more active the game is, the higher the prize, and the more people will be rewarded.

To sign up, reply to the thread with your desired trainer name and starter Pokemon. Accepted Starter Pokemon are listed in the first post.

This is basically a Role Play where you battle other users, catch and train pokemon, battle gyms, and more. Every valid post mad during the contest and every in game action will get you a certain number of points, these points will be used to determine who the winners are. Specific instructions and rules will be posted after sign ups close, but will not vary too much from that of the original game.

If less than 16 users sign up, the competition will not begin, and if a certain level of activity is not met during each month of the competition, the minimum of 100,000 Viz will be awarded. (Level of activity will be determined by number of participants.)

Spring 2014 Netplay Tournament: Bomberman '94 = Sign up Now!

In this tournament we'll be playing Bomberman '94 for the Turbo Grafx. Each user will play 2 matchups a week. Each matchup could be any of the following:
-1-5 Player Free for All
-2 Players vs 2 Players
-1 Player vs 1 Player
-Other possible combinations

In each matchup the players will play until someone has won 5 games so a single matchup can take between 15-30 minutes. 1st place will get 7 points, 2nd place 5 points, 3rd place 3 points, 4th place 2 points and 5th place 1 point. Failure to show up to a matchup automatically results into 0 points.

Every week (except the first week) the 2 users (or more, depending on how many enter) with the lowest amount of points will be eliminated from the tournament. If there's a tie, both users will be eliminated.

For each matchup, the level you play and the time you play will be predetermined. All matches will take place at either 7 PM central time or 7:30 PM central time on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. If you are eliminated from the tournament for failing to show up to your matchups, you'll be placed on the tournament ban list which means you wont be able to participate in a netplay tournament until next year and you'll also be fined 10,000 Viz.

Requirements:
-You must be available between 7 PM - 8 PM central time Monday-Thursday nights
-You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users)
-The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer

Vizzed has just exceeded 1,000,000,000 views! As a way to celebrate, I made a new background for the site (many users hated the previous) and I've also made new icons for the Retro Game Room and the Video Game Room.

So how big of an accomplishment is 1 Billion? Well we pulled it off in just under 10 years (the view count began on 12-06-04). The site was averaging around 3,500 views per a day when this current Vizzed Board launched, now days it averages 1,500,000 views per a day. Not many sites publicly display their view count these days but out of the ones that do, I can't imagine too many sites exceeding 1 Billion views.

So how many people did it take to pull that off? Using my Google Analystics data, I've estimated that nearly 30 million unique users have used this site since it launched. 13+ million of those unique visitors have been from the United States which means around 4% of the USA's population has visited Vizzed.com at least once in their life.

Like always, I need to thank the staff for helping me keep this site active. As the site generates more and more traffic, it also demands more and more hours to keep under control.
