N64, Sega CD and a few others don't currently support it. Ability to have 2 plugin instances at the same time This would allow you to have 2 instances of the RGR Plugin open at the same time. Now it would require a fast computer to have 2 instances open at the same time but this would basically allow you and another user to see eachother's games. You'd be playing in your game in your instance and you'd be able to see their game in their instance. This would be great for if you want to play through a single player game with someone else, show someone how to do something or race each other to see who can beat the game the fastest in real time. Add DOS Games This would allow us to add those old PC games known as DOS games. So basically most PC games released between 1981 and 1995 (and some between 1995-2000) would be capable of being added to the site. Upgraded Plugin Architecture for External System Loading This Plugin architecture upgrade would allow the plugin to load systems on demand. This would allow the plugin to be only 1 MB and basically each time you play a system for the first time, that systems files would download when you go to play that game. Google Chrome Support Google Chrome is slowly moving away from NPAPI plugins (and doesn't support it with the default settings) which is the type of plugin the RGR Plugin is. Keep in mind that this tournament doesn't have a set time or day that you do your matchup, you and your weekly opponent each week will come up with a time that works best for both teams. Shenmue I & II Available to Everyone for 0 Viz + Double CP & Viz for Submitting Content
Shenmue III has been a game that fans like myself have been waiting for since 2001 (2002 for Xbox owners) so when it was announced that it'll be coming out and will be backed by Kickstarter funding, that was a very big deal. The Kickstarter page ends in 2 weeks and so I had some fun ideas to celebrate Shenmue III finally being a reality and to bring attention to the series hoping that more people become fans of the game.
All versions of Shenmue I & II Available to Everyone for 0 Viz Shortly after Dreamcast games were added to Vizzed, I made all of the Shenmue games cost 0 Viz because I really want everyone to experience the game. Just now I also made it so that you no longer need the Beta Test Ticket (which costs 10,000 Viz) to play the games. The reason that Dreamcast games currently require a Beta Test Ticket is because the games haven't all been tested yet and when I introduce new features to the site, they go into a beta state until they've been fully tested. Earn Double CP & Viz for Submitting Content to the Shenmue game pages For the next 2+ weeks, or until July 20th, you'll earn twice the CP and Viz when you submit content to any of the Shenmue game pages (Walkthroughs will qualify longer). Affected actions include: -Review -Screenshot Submission -Video Submission -Walkthrough (double CP & Viz until August 1st) -Game Content and Game Content Request -Game Streaming (may not work properly) Additional actions affected include: Game Rated, Graphic Adding, Moving Ebay Listing, Removing Ebay Listing, Review Rating, Screenshot Edit, Screenshot Rating, Video Edit and Video Rating. The above Shenmue Shenmue (recommended) This is the version of Shenmue that everyone in the United States grew up playing. If you don't plan to play Shenmue II on vizzed or don't care about transferring your save file, then play this version. Shenmue (PAL) This is the version of Shenmue that was released in the UK. I'm not sure what the differences are with this version but the only reason you'd want to play this version instead of the US release is so that you can transfer your save file from Shenmue I to Shenmue II. I'm pretty sure that with both versions of Shenmue II on vizzed you can load your Shenmue I save file so that you can transfer items you've collected. Shenmue II Shenmue II (English Translation) (recommended) This is the PAL version except in English. Basically someone ripped the audio from the Xbox version of Shenmue II (which was in English) and dumped it into this version so that anyone can experience Shenmue II in full English on the Dreamcast. Shenmue II (PAL) Shenmue II was never actually released in the United States so the only way to play Shenmue II was either by importing it or by playing it on the Xbox. 8-Bit Music Stream ON Tuesday from 2-8 PM (CST) = Viz & Steam Games!
On Tuesday, 6/30/2015, from 2 - 8 PM (central time zone) we'll all be listening to and rating the songs submitted to the 8-Bit Music Competition. Around 30 seconds before each song is done, I'll put up a poll which will allow everyone to vote. I will be hosting this event on my Twitch channel and I'll be giving away a total of $300 worth of steam games and/or 300,000 Viz to random viewers of the stream so the longer you stick around and vote, the better your chances of walking away with a cash prize. To qualify for the cash and Viz prizes, all you have to do is vote on the music and follow my channel.
If you win a raffle, you get to choose whether you want the Viz prize or whether you want to pick a steam game from a list of steam games which I'll provide sometime before the event begins. Since this will be by far the longest music stream I've ever hosted, there will be a lot more stuff handed out compared to previous music streams (but unfortunately no cash prizes this time since I'm broke). I don't expect anyone to stick around for the full 6 hours but if you're free during any of this time (even if it's just a half hour), feel free to stop by and hang out in the chat. Summer 2015 Netplay Tournament: Teams = Sign up for a chance to win $100
This competition will involve 2 player teams facing off against other 2 player teams. This is the 3rd year I've hosted a teams tournament. You can find the results of previous years here:
Summer 2014: Retro Renegades Wins Summer 2013: Kogarasumaru Wins This tournament will last for 12 weeks. The first 3 games will determine who advances into the regular games (I use this to weed out those who don't participate). The next 5 games are regular games and will be used to determine who goes to the elimination rounds. The last 4 games are the elimination rounds and the last round of course is the final game. You must enter as a team, so find someone who is willing to be your teammate and let me know what your team name is. Your team may also contain a 3rd user, a user who will basically be one of your backups in case one of you can't participate in a matchup in any given week or someone who can fill in if one of the main players of the team is bad at a game that gets picked. The 3rd backup player isn't required but is suggested if you can find someone willing to take on that role. Be careful on who you choose as a teammate. If your teammate doesn't show up for a matchup, then it's you against 2. If your teammate gets banned from the competition or drops out, then you have to play the entire tournament alone unless you can find someone to replace them. The games that this tournament will involve (I'll be adding more later): Turbo Grafx: -Bomberman '94 -Final Match Tennis -Moto Roader Super Nintendo: -Micro Machines 2 - Turbo Tournament -Tiny Toon Adventures - Wacky Sports Challenge Nintendo NES: -Super Spike V'Ball Playstation: -Bomberman World -Micro Machines V3 -Crash Bash We're doing things slightly different this year. The games will be grouped by system and each week a team can veto a system which means for their matchup that week, no game from that system can be picked. This will allow users to compete who are unable to do netplay for a certain system because they'll be able to simply veto that system each week and never have to worry about playing a game for it. Requirements: -You must live in the United States (unless you have had very little lag problems playing netplay with USA users) -The RGR Plugin must work fine on your computer and netplay should work for at least 3 of the systems mentioned above -You must be free at least 1 hour every week that this tournament takes place or have a backup player that can fill in for you any week that you're unavailable -If your on the ban list, you cannot enter. Summer 2015 Newsletter + Help Out Vizzed = 5000 Viz!

The Summer 2015 Newsletter has begun rolling out today and should take up to 2-3 weeks to deliver to everyone. This newsletter basically just highlights all of the big site updates and RGR Plugin updates that have taken place over the past 6 months so there's nothing real special in it for those of you who use the site daily and read the announcements and also read the threads posted in the news forum. Just in case you don't receive it though and wanted to see what it contained, my next post will contain the contents of the newsletter. The great thing about these newsletters is that it helps increase the site's traffic a little by reminding users that Vizzed.com still exists and by letting them know of updates that may interest them. Hopefully over the next 2+ weeks we'll see old veterans come back and an increase in traffic, which is something the site desperately needs since it has been struggling lately financially (it's definitely not cheap to pay for the site servers and RGR Plugin updates). Help Out Vizzed = 5000 Viz! Here's how you can help out vizzed. If you ever received an email from vizzed, there's a good chance it may have gone to your junk or spam box. If you still have the email, simply mark it as safe if the option is available. In hotmail you'd click 'Wait, it's safe', in gmail and yahoo you'd click 'Not Spam' (the link to click may vary for other email providers). If you can't find any emails sent from one of the vizzed email addresses then wait until you receive the newsletter and you can do this with that. Respond to the below thread once you've done this. The reason this is so important is because vizzed.com got on hotmail's block list a few weeks which means that any email sent from a vizzed.com email address was blocked instantly. I was able to contact them and get us removed from the ban but they said that I need to increase the reputation of emails sent from the vizzed servers otherwise I could easily get back on the list. It's very important for me to stay off this ban list and all other ban lists because this basically prevents users signing up from getting their verification email which is really bad. Plus it makes it so users can't recover their password, get newsletters and other various notifications. If we can get the reputation of the vizzed email accounts high enough then the vizzed emails may no longer be automatically sent to the spam/junk box of various email providers. Now I don't want to get into too much detail but the reason we even got added to hotmail's ban list (and possibly others) is because a bot was using the registration form of vizzed to send out tons of spam emails. Since then I've added a reCAPTCHA to the registration form to prevent bots from abusing it. Bomberman Netplay Tournament: Final Matchup! + Beat Foxyman1113 & Davideo7 for $200!
2015 Spring Bomberman Tournament = Final Matchup at 3:15 PM Central Time on Wednesday, 6/24/2015
The Bomberman Netplay Tournament which started back in early April will come to an end this Wednesday in the final matchup! Here are the 5 users who made it to the final matchup along with their player number (which also reflects their overall rank) and Bomberman color: Davideo7 (P1: White), Foxyman1113 (P2: Black), deg2000 (P3: Red), Linkums (P4: Blue) and lilwildwolf21 (P5: Green). The final matchup will last anywhere between 45 minutes and 75 minutes and will consist of rounds. The winner of the tournament gets $200, 2nd place gets $50, 3rd place gets $25 and 4th & 5th get Viz prizes. If you're curious about how this tournament worked and who all competed, you can find more information here. Here's how the final matchup will work. At the end of each round, the user (or users if there is a tie for last) with the lowest trophy count will be eliminated. We keep doing this until only 1 user stands, which will be our winner. The rules of the final matchup are exactly as they were in last year's final matchup (which can be viewed here). Vizzed RGR Plugin 2.30 = Download Now!
Vizzed RGR Plugin 2.30 is ready for download! This release primarily consists of bug fixes, an architecture upgrade, better stability and a few other enhancements. Download link can be found at the bottom of this post.
If all goes well as in this version works fine for enough users, this release and the previous 2.25 release will become mandatory upgrades if you're using an earlier release. The reason the previous release will be a mandatory upgrade instead of this one is because there was a huge architecture upgrade within the plugin that took place between 2.25 and 2.30 so it's possible that the new plugin might not function properly for some people. 2.25 will be a mandatory upgrade for many reasons and if for some reason you need to know those reasons, feel free to ask. List of all the upgrades and enhancements since the 2.25 release MAME/MESS We've FCEUX This improves the compatibility and playability of NES games. Forced Game Download if File Size is Different The plugin now forces a file download if the file size of the downloaded game doesn't match the file size of the game that the user is trying to download. This will also fix the issue where a user plays a game for 1 system and then later plays a game with the same file name for another system but ends up playing the game for that previous system because it has the same file name. Upgraded Architecture The plugin process is exe based instead of dll based now which helps increase stability and playability a little. This is beneficial for many reasons but here's 3: 1. It'll be easy to upgrade the plugin in the future to allow multiple instances; 2. When the plugin launches, we can set its process priority which would allow games to run better for some users; 3. It'll make it easier to eventually create a plugin that loads the emulators externally each time you play an emulator for the first time (or when you play it after it's been Other Various Fixes -I have more control over MAME/MESS which will help me better fine tune various games systems -Ability to swap discs in Sega CD (I still have to -Ability to swap disks for various MESS systems (I still have to -MESS mouse support (specifically for CD-i) -Fixed MAME/MESS full screen crunch issue -Plugin now generates a crash report on your PC here: C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPlugin -Plugin is less likely to crash your internet browser when it crashes -Improvements to how screenshots and videos are handled with MAME/MESS -Many other various bug fixes and plugin improvements Please Help Us Fund More The site's traffic and revenue continues to drop and so have the donations lately. Earn Triple Viz & CP for Video Game Articles = E3 Celebration
For the next 2 weeks, from 6/11/2015 - 6/25/2015, you'll earn 3 times more Viz and CP for writing Video Game Articles! There's a lot of news in the gaming community during these weeks and as a way to get more users to submit articles to the site, I'm offering a huge opportunity to earn a ton of Viz and CP!
So how much can you now make for making an article? Well before you could earn up to 12.5 CP and 1250 Viz for writing a 250 word article (which is a lot) but now during this time you can earn 37.5 CP and 3750 Viz for a 250 word article! A 250 word article is pretty small too and a user should easily be able to do a 250 word article in under a half hour (which includes both the research and typing it up). Site Staff Application = Wave 3
Here's your 3rd and final chance to become a Site Staff member! This application will stay open until June 19th.
If you didn't get hired last time or even the time before, apply again! Some users that applied last time would've qualified to become staff but since the position they applied for was filled up or no longer in demand, we had to pass on them. I've removed all filled or low priority positions so everything that is remaining are positions we really need filled so we're a little desperate at this point. For a few of the roles below, I added additional details of how you can increase your chances of getting hired for those roles. Benefits for joining the staff include: -Access to exclusive features and forums -Access to features before they're released -Access to games and systems that aren't available to everyone -More opportunities to earn CP and Viz -Added to Davideo7's friends list (it's my only way of making sure I don't max out my list) -Recognition and respect from the staff and vizzed community -You'll be granted a permanent Elite member position (which is the highest non-staff position on the site that offers some staff benefits) after you've left staff assuming you were a staff member for at least 3 months and earned at least 1000 CP toward your staff roles -And more! Below are the positions available (roles at the top are the highest demand): Game Tester (3 roles available) Your job is to test out games in the Retro Game Room with the RGR Plugin. Requirements: -Trusted Member or higher How to increase your chance: Help us thoroughly test out the RGR Plugin betas when they're released. The more you help us test these out and the more feedback you give us for the betas, the better your chances will be of getting hired to this position. Video Game Character Manager (2 roles available) Your job is to add missing video game characters and missing game franchises to the Video Game Characters feature on vizzed. You'll also be in charge of organizing the characters by making sure the current characters are assigned to their proper game franchise and you'll also be in charge of adding details to game characters that are missing details or have wrong information. Lastly, you'll also be in charge of accepting or declining characters and franchises that regular users request to have added. Requirements: -You must have submitted 250 screenshots to the site OR -You must have 100 total CP points for the 'Screenshot Rated' action (you can find that info here) OR -Trusted Member or higher How to increase your chance: Participate in the Video Game Character 2 competition. The higher you rank, the better your chances will be of getting hired to this role! Tech Support (1 role available) Your responsibility is to help out users with anything related to the Retro Game Room. You'll be in charge of responding to Private Messages sent to the RGR Staff inbox and you'll also be responsible for taking care of problems and issues users have in the RGR forums. Requirements: -Trusted Member or higher -You must have great knowledge of everything relating to the RGR and the RGR Plugin and you should be very tech savvy (please prove this to us with your response) How to increase your chance: Help us thoroughly test out the RGR Plugin betas when they're released. The more you help us test these out and the more feedback you give us for the betas, the better your chances will be of getting hired to this position. Article Writer (1 role available) You must write 3-6 articles a month for the site. Requirements: -You need to show us an article you've made as proof that you're capable of making good articles. If you haven't ever made one, go ahead and make one. Price Guide Manager (1 role available) Your job is to filter through the ebay listings which are used to calculate the prices for the Price Guide feature. Additional responsibilities will be added in the future. Requirements: -Trusted Member or higher Additional Requirements (each position also requires the following) -Willing to invest 5-10 hours into the site each week for each of your roles -You are at least 13 years old -Haven't been banned in the past year You may apply to more than 1 position which increases your chances of getting hired (or if you pick positions that not many users picked) but you'll only be given 1 role to start out with but you can take on more if you're interested later on.
